Mention present adsl modem make/model/number in use.
Any ADSl wifi router will work. Netgear wgr614 may cost around Rs 1500/= to Rs 2000/=
Check prices in ebay.in Buy locally so that dealer can extend prompt service during guarantee period.
Try exchange with MTNL for wifi router (3 in one adslmodem/4lanport/wifi router.)
BSNL outright purchase Rs 1800/= plus taxes Rental Rs 80/= P.M

You can pick any wireless router for your connection but remember MTNL provides support for very limited routers only and tomorrow if you will face any issues with router/connectivity then MTNL will not provide tech support for the same so according to my suggestion its better to get one from MTNL only.
