Default Slow Speed on 1 Mbps plan

    Hi,

I have subscribed to the new 1 Mbps plan (Unlimited Download) for which i pay a monthly rent of Rs 999.The connection was working fine until last week when the speed of download drastically reduced to 256 Kbps(My download speeds are around 15 - 20 Kbps). The information shown on 192.168.1.1 is as follows :

    ADSL Firmware Version:FwVer:3.9.9.5_TC3085 HwVer:T14.F7_3.0

    Line State:Showtime

    Modulation:ADSL2 PLUS

    Annex Mode:ANNEX_M

    Downstream Upstream
    SNR Margin : 37.9 30.5 db
    Line Attenuation : 5.0 2.1 db
    Data Rate: 2055 506 kbps

I have filed a complaint in GM's office as well as local telephone exchange but the problem has not been corrected yet.

    Kindly help
    Regards

    Prasad

Well, there are reports of many subscribers facing reduced speeds with MTNL. All reports indicate that MTNL is exercising some form of FUP policy that has not been made public.

I've same problem & using DNA-A213 router. I think this is server side problem & nothing to do with our router.

cool_techie_tvm's idea appeals to me.. The might be throttling your speed after a set limit has been breached. When does your billing cycle end?

Are you a heavy user? Did you use up more then 30GB this billing cycle by any chance?

    Try this

http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...onnection.html (How to: get max. speed of a connection)

Wait for a day or two and check. May be a temporary problem.

Default This is 100% true and I am going through the same

Glad I discovered this forum. Its' 100% true, MTNL is applying FUP or atleast experimenting with FUP on its' subscribers.

I am on a 749/Mo plan, that promises 752 Kbps. However since the last two days, I've discovered the bandwidth reduced to 256 Kbps (see attached).

This sucks, because here is a badass public sector company, that borders on zero customer care, that has decided to do something thats' not stated anywhere on their site nor their communications.

    FUP is somehow good cause

if it hadnt been there Low downloaders suffer due to heavy downloaders

btw its hard to download 80gb(after which FUP kicks in) per month on a 512 plan
so its no problem for me

IF you dont want FUP go to some other ISP or start your own company :P

    Unhappy

From last 1 Week i am also facing the issue that my speed is too much slow in 2Mbps plan. I Think there is some issue from MTNL Side and we have to wait till they resolve the problem.

    80GB for a 512 Kbps plan

I don't think I downloaded even 10GB, and yet FUP has kicked in.
