@xanezu Will you be kind enough to post the screen shots of torrent or http downloads?
hello guys i m getting 38+ Mbps on crappy copper lines...can anyone tell me how it can be possible??
man plstll me how do u get so much speed?????????
You might either close the server which is located nearby somewhere So I thinking ur getting such a good speed enjoy the speed and post some screen shots of Torrent downloads and Download manager if u download any files using that ..
Enjoys the speeeeeedddddddddd![]()
Just enjoy that speed till you get it,i give you a suggestion,Download .ISO Files and Movies and Games From torrents,Softwares too.
I think 1GB would just be over in some seconds.....
So you can have more than TB's of Data, please Enjoy it.
MTNL deserves it when the users are getting disconnected by Mtnl, even they are paying! So why not we too enjoy the Great Chance to Humiliate "SARKAR"![]()
Can you log into your DSL modem and see it Downstream/ Downlink and Upstream Rates defined in the modem profile?
Someone please guide based on which modem he has? (Which modem do you have?)
I know Akhil. Which is why I asked him to check those parameters and post them.
But never hurts to get the info.
I am going to have MTNL replace my modem due to lot of issues so if some of their modems have line rates set to that RATE.. then I might try to get one of those... whose line rate profile ..![]()
@xanezu
please post speed test result from U.K Server
My Broadband Speed - Broadband Speed Tester for re check.
Akhil -
There have been lot of people who got that 2MBps download (200k) on their 1M connections due to the line rate.. right? I got it too.
Bunch of people I know did not.
How MTNL sets or resets which of their modems / by brand or area or by some other demographic.. is a good to know. Sometimes its possible some modems dont get updated due to some other reasons... All depends.
If I had figured out or could figure out a way to reset the line rate on my modem back to the 2240 (2M) that it originally came with, then I'd do it.
I am considering getting a replacement so who knows I'll try to get one whose default line rate is set to something better. Maybe find a way to prevent it being put down to 1M
If this still doesnt compute in your brain.. let it be..
Spend a decade or so doing networking & consuling for telcos across the world and you might get what I am talking about.
That would be a great add on info as well.![]()

You can't set the line rate yourself to 2Mbps till MTNL Sets it!
It's Consulting not consuling!
Replacing a modem will not extend your bandwidth to 2Mbps from 256kbps/your current plan speed.
If you are on 2Mbps then you can't be on 1Mbps,modem can't let the line rate fall to 1Mbps automatically!
Btw thread is getting offtopic now,i Suggest Admin to close it!!
As the thread starter is not replying it is better to close thread.
Consulting... Wow!
Oh! How intelligent that you should point out my typo. I should use you as an additional Spell-checking monkey on Chrome.. Thank you.
Its none of your concern my immature friend, why I want to know which modem he is using. Maybe I have ideas that are beyond you. Thank you for your time.
Admin - No need to close the thread. We are/were very politely asking the OP to detail out the exact parameters of this experimental exceptional bandwidth.
- Hardware & Firmware w Version Info (A good modem supporting and managing such rates)
- Settings / Configuration (Link Rates that might/ have changed)
- Location (Close or far from MTNL Exchange)
- Speed (through various locations / servers)
Maybe there are more parameters we should be looking at and more metrics we should be measuring. (Ups, Downs, TTLs, Latencies, Link/Path Maps etc.). Its quite rare that we get a chance to explore such infrastructure on the Indian Continent.
Maybe this way we can gather evidence to see how far we can take the existing infrastructure if needed.
Maybe even make a case study to the Government, TRAI & press with evidence that we could have US/Europe like Internet but its being down-capped by numbskulls.
They already know it, but this could be great food/evidence to push it. (maybe via press).
Just because we have someone who is such a "know it all" and wants to argue does not mean this thread is of no interest to us. This person can very kindly IGNORE this thread if they are not interested.
It is not OFF-TOPIC except for Mr.Akhils excited rants.
The original poster (OP) will come and reply when they have time next. It does not mean the person is going to be here 24/7 replying ASAP. I am sure he has a life..![]()
OK. OK. crashnburn and Akhil, no getting personal please. This is a gentle advise.
