Thread: Sharing broadband connection (preference)

I share mtnl broadband connection 512mbps with my landlord, his son is always downloading through torrents. When he starts downloading my internet speed suddenly goes down. I have asked them but they said there is no preference like thing set. But i think maybe they don't know.
no-matter i connect through wire or wireless same thing happens. they have everything router or modem whatever is of mtnl which comes by default. Please tell me if there is anything which can be done in order to make it like 50-50 speed distribution. also please tell me there is any preference they have??

1.Check your speed now. Make two tests.
My Broadband Speed - Broadband Speed Tester.
2.Since you cannot access modem/router etc , tweak your computer for better performance.
tcp/ip optimizer from speedguide.net.
keep the slider at about 600 Kbps.
3.Recheck speed at site given in (1) above.
4.Check again speed data, when Landlord/son using d/l
from torrents.
5.Connect to LAN port for above tests.
Give links of speed test
omitting only http://www ( No dots space *** etc )
6. The speed will reduce if more than one system
is connected.
7. What is the amount you pay as your share ?
Is it u/l download scheme ?

Install " Bitmeter " in your PC and show your landlord how slow is your connection. Ask him to either control their usage or reduce your share.
