Thread: MTNL Speed drop

I have been using the MTNL 999 Unlimited plan since about 6 months. All was well but in the last 3 weeks the performance of the connection has suddenly dropped significantly.

I have tried Speedtest.net 10-15 times and it really fluctuates in the reading. It may reach 1 Mb some times but its not stable, mostly much lower.

I think MTNL switched something in recent days to regulate or limit bandwidth OR its reduced its bandwidth for unlimited users.

MTNL helpdesk was most unhelpful. The server room they asked me to call refused to help, pushing me back to the 1504, which could not help at all.

Have others noticed this reduction in recent days?

BTW I use the WNDR3700 Netgear dual band N router.

yup i also haf d same problem from dis vry day my spped dropped from 300KBps to 30KBps dats horibble

same problem here... till yesterday I was getting 2mbps but now my speeds have decreased to 512kbps...

same shites been flying everywhere buddies. they even told me u r lucky u r still online. i feel lucky i still have to pay their bill

I'm getting the speed I deserve by the price I pay.(from BSNL) If I don't (not including the weather issues) get what I deserve I will tune out...

If everyone who are having problems with MTNL stops complaining and starts terminating their connection MTNL they will have to correct themselves.

Some decades ago in Kolkata there was a phenomenon which can be called as 'Funeral of Telephone". As Kolkata's phone line and rate of cross connection and even getting connections was a seeming luck.A few people called a pandit and organized literally a funeral with yagya and mantras.And a telephone was murdered.

After that many things improved...

I'm using Rs.495 ul combo pack(320 kbps), before I used to get 40 kbps download speed, now I get around 30-35 kbps. Multiple complaints on 1504 and 198 yielded nothing. Call center guys says its line problem, lineman says everything is fine. They bring out new offers now and then but their service and handling customers problems remains poor.

It is basically not possible to get exact stable speed.Sometimes you will get 40+ or 40-.

Still to diagnose...

Download a file from Microsoft or any file hosting site and report the speed here.

I've been using this pack since the day it was launched. And I used to get 40-41 kbps till a few days back.
