MTNL are experimenting for 04/011 they are offering all unlimited user speed upto 2mbps on sundays ...they have also increased their upload speed for all users from 256kbps to 512kbps.the dsl modem router shows the increase in upload download speed ...but when u run speedtest....does not show any difference.
the speedtest does not show any increase in speed but when u d/w any thing like torrent ull notice the increased speed
How did u login to the dsl modem? username & password- admin & admin do not work.
Ok, forget speedtest when I do an actual download I am getting download speed of 64kbps.
Ok, once again forget about speedtest for a minute. When I download from file-sharing sites rapidshare, hotfile, etc I am getting speed of 64kbps.
Secondly, I did a specific test on bittorrent only & it appears u r right about bittorrent part, I got speeds of 1.8mbps i.e. approx. 2mbps.
BUT, I am not a bittorent userI don't remember the last time I used it.As I said earlier I download from rapidshare,hotfile,etc..
Just bcoz MTNL has increased speed for bittorent traffic(on bittorent ports only)
that does not mean MTNL can throttle/reduce speeds of normal downloads.![]()

I think the problem is not your internet but the file sharing sites (Rapidshare, Hotfile, Filesonic...). They seem to have capped the download speeds for free users. My internet has been running at 5 Mbps (600 KB/sec) the last couple of days and even I have been getting no more than 65 - 100 KBps on these sites. My torrents do run at full speeds though, so do the uploads and downloads to my webserver.
Normally, I'd be able to download at 250 KB/sec off Rapidshare or Filesonic.
