Question Mac Address filtering in 450TC1 Beetel router

    Hi,

I recently got a MTNL broadband connection and would like to share it with 10 people. However, the router interface allows us to add just 8 MAC addresses. We would like to be strict with MAC address filtering to disallow other people access. Any way out of this?

The security key can be changed by Admin every week.
Presume all 10 systems access in wifi mode

    Confirm any system uses.Windows 7,
add application "connectify" and reduce the AP range.

    Essbebe,

While I agree changing the key every week could be an option we don't want our WiFi to "leak" at any time. The only solution we could narrow down was MAC address filtering. To add, the 8 users have three different OS : Mac, Linux and Windows (XP/Vista/7). Any other circumnavigation possible ?

What is the maximum height and radius of target area of wifi reception ?
Re orient the antenna ( keep the wifi router parallel to ground ) and rotate for minimum reception by unwanted systems.

how simple it is for an attacker to bypass some of the more basic restrictions. Don't rely on a hidden SSID or MAC Address filtering as your only security measures. They may stop the average neighbor from using your internet connection but they will not prevent an attacker from breaking into your network and using your internet connection.

    4.
MAC address filtering ( white list ) is restricted to 8.
WIFI router limit. can try with a different wifi router.

    5.
System having Windows 7 can install Connectify. ( with security key ) Tried this ?
Reduced Range. A software application No expenses.
    works as additional AP.
