Unhappy Internet not working on LAN Port 2 and 3 while working on port 1 and 4

There was some problem in my previous Modem. So the MTNL guy came and changed the Modem. Earlier the modem was having 4 LAN port to connect to PCs, well the new one also has four ports. The problem is that only port 1 and 4 is working. I mean to say internet is access in port 1 and 4, and port 2 and 3 i am not able to connect to the internet. The computer detects the connection but access is not given on these ports to use internet. I think there is some problem with the setting.
I tried to fix it by logging into 192.168.1.1 and in the LAN setting i tick marked all 1 to 4 physical connection options. But still it not giving access on port 2 and 3 but working fine on 1 and 4. I think the MTNL technician has limited the connection to 2 port i.e. 1 and 4.

Please help me in resolving the issue. How to correct the setting so that all the four ports can be used simultaneously to access internet. Actually we r three people sharing this connection and only 2 are able to use it simultaneously.

    Thank You

At least you should mention the modem/router model/number/ make.
From the "headache" symptoms you have explained the problem could be
your unit is SAM 300 AX modem router. from MTNL Delhi.
    confirm.
Lan 2 Lan 3 reserved/ set for for IPTV VOIP I think.
    wait .......
    Download this.

well the model no is DNA- 1081 ADSL 2+ CPE.
I think u r right. Above The 2nd and 3rd port, VOIP and IPTV is written.
So, tell what needs to be done now. Can i still use this modem by making any changes in the setting.?
Or should i tell MTNL people to change it?
    Please suggest me.

cannot understand what is special about VOIP and IPTV.
I just now tested/connected VOIP module from a wifi router LAN 1 to 4 ports. one by one No problem at all.
Laptop ethernet port also to all LAN ports. no problem.
Better get the unit exchanged at MTNL.

As per the instruction given in the above attached word file. I changed the setting but still its not working. Should i try by tick marking on physical port 1 and 2 which was earlier set?

    Have you enabled DHCP ?
do you connect in PPPoE mode ?
    ( userid/pw stored in modem)
ensure VPI/VCI for VCO is 0 and 32.

some problem in uploading post here.
will try to update in the morning.

ok...fine. I will wait for ur reply.
    Thanks for the concern.

is there any update? So that my problem can be fixed....

I contacted the MTNL people and they told me that they have this type of modem only with IPTV and VOIP in port 2 and 3. They do not have the previous modem which i was using ie HG510. They told me to buy a hub. I am worried what will happen now. We r three people sharing the internet and now only 2 people will be able to use simultaneously.

If you connect RJ45 from LAN2 or LAN3 to a desktop ethernet port
What is the error message you get?.
Also check in Diagnostics page of modem failed components.

Try it in a system which worked with LAN1 connection .
    2.
Need the Firmware/software details of the SAM AX300 model.

I have attached four screen shots of the diagnostic and of the firmware and software version.

This will help you in getting more clear picture of my problem.

Only this is of interest :
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/attach...-4-screen4.png
    In PVC0 vpi/vci 0 and 32 ( for MTNL) DEFAULT retain.
Now connect one desktop to LAn1/
(presume picture for LAN 1 connection )
Check connecting in LAN 2 and LAN 3
and check whether connection is lost.

I think when you connect LAN2 or LAN3 the VPI/VCI changes for VOIP and
IPTV( 0 and 33 in Bridged mode ) and you have to dial the connection.
    and PVC2 0r PVC1 is automatically connected.

SO to keep ONLY VC0 VPI/VCI 0 and 35 connected, select all other VCO's and disable/deactivate them. ( cannot delete in this modem )
    wait
I will post a screen shot. for all and SAVE.

Check status page given on top. only PVC0 should show connected.
    Others should show STATUS down.
( we are trying to FORCE modem connection to PVC0 )

I was wondering whether we can do a Firmware update ! NOT necessary. If you find in any Menu page mention of IPTV/VOIP , please confirm.

Thanks for your patience and cooperation in trying to crack the problem.

As told by you, i changed the setting. But the internet stopped working on all the four port. I reset the setting but the connection was not restored. So restored factory setting and its working now on port 1 and 4. I am attaching the screenshot of the changes which i did as instructed by you.
Please see if any other setting can be changed.
    Thank you.

I repeated the exercise in same type modem 110TCI
    Connection was not lost.
But the internet stopped working on all the four ports
    Result not convincing.Problem somewhere else.
After selecting VPI one by one and deactivating them,
you should go to bottom of page and click SAVE or DELETE.
Then recheck summary will show only one active PPPoE connection.

You can PM if you wish your IP with(Id admin Pw admin not changed I hope ) to check the settings.in your modem SamAX300.

I think it is difficult to change the setting and use port 2 and 3. So, i have called customer care and asked them to change the wired modem with wireless. They told me that they replace it by charging Rs 500 extra.
can u tell me how much time they normally take to set up the wireless modem...?

I just checked MTNL manual for wa3002-g1.
ONeLANport and wifi model. ( similar )
suggested Dialer mode for both IPTV and Internet.
    Set VCO0 for Internet 0 32 and for IPTV VCO1 for 0 33
Log in with different ID/PW in same Dialer.

It is unlikely internally any changes had been made in SAMAX300.
Just try Dialer Mode for desktop 1 and connect others
    after logging in desktop1.
    Basically lan1lan2 lan3 lan4 are switches.
    Feedback.

Usually the field staff comes with pre set wifi router.
Will test connection in their laptop and if it does not work in your system, will ask you to check your computer!!!
Ensure you test the wireless key in your laptop ( if any )

Have been observing thread with interest, as I never hear of such a problem
I contacted the MTNL people ... ... ... They told me to buy a hub.
If you are really banging your head against a brick wall with these people and this modem, this might actually be your best answer. I don't know current prices, but should not cost much.

essbebe... this is a complete shot in the dark, but do you think there is any chance that those ports might be configured to use cross-over cable. (No, I don't see why, either: just a crazy idea!)

    @Nick_H
    1.
Thanks for your interest, and chipping in here. I was a"lone ranger" here so far !
    No. crossover cable required.
    A Firmware update can be tried.May not be needed.(At Owner's RISK !!)
    2.
If you download this Pdf file for Wa3002-g1you will get the idea about IPTV/VOIP problems.&Lan2 Lan3 .
    http://mumbai.mtnl.net.in/triband/ht...ireless_II.pdf

Basically as many routers (+wifi) are basically same like this
    main clue

connection to a SINGLE LAN port in router. for internet and IPTV

Settings: internet to PVC 0 0 and 32 dialup "bridged " Disable DHCP.
Settings : IPTV to PVC1 0 and 33 dialup " bridged" disabled DHCP.connect to se ttop box !!!
So a single LAN port in above unit used for BOTH
    Internet connection and IPTV!!
see picture in Post No 12.

I used a single modem to connect to BSNL/Airtel only problem I had to change the rj11 to concerned ISP's phone port.
(as the vpi/vci if different can be used/set in a single modem )

    @Honey

    (A)
    Exchange for a 4 portLAN +wifi router ( instead of buying a hub/switch etc )
    (B)
    (B) TEST::: modem in DIALER MODE
may follow up/try the suggestion above. for LAN2 OR LAN3
Try a single computer In "Dialer Mode"
    in PVC0 or PVC2 vpi/vci 0 and 32.
by connecting to LAN2 or LAN 3
ONLY PPPoE or Dialer mode can be set for a single PVC.
    Feedback please.
Negative report also most welcome !!!!

No problem. I have requested users , here and elsewhere ,
    having this Sam300AX unit .
to test even with a single computer and use "Dialer" mode for
    all LAN ports.

By the what precautions for security purpose needs to be taken(by) me when they will set up the wireless modem?

Please open a New thread with the router number. first.
    like
    UtstarWA3002-g4 quick reference
    Beetel 401TCI wifi security
    SAM300AX LAN2 not connecting etc.
This will help the users/members in SEARCH function.
For instance my guide gets about 100 hits every day,
Usually users tend to type the modem/router number.
You are free to use any thread title. This is only a suggestion.
    when searching for data/settings/help.

    Para two:
Thanks for feedback. I have requested some other members also.
    Will update later.
