    Default Mtnl charging Rental

From first of this month Mtnl has started to charge Rs. 50/- rental for wireless modem which they said would be free to unlimited usage customers. Is the beetel modem non refundable cause if it is i would like to give it back and get a new and better router rather than using their useless modem and also paying rent.

From 01/07/2011 MTNL charges Rs. 50 for Monthly Modem rental from all combo and unlimited plan customers who have taken modem from MTNL.No monthly CPE Rental for customers using their own modem. .In selected Unlimited Plan MTNL is offering more Download Speed duing Night (10:00PM to 08:00 AM) and MTNL is also offering additional 25 monthly free calls to DSL_combo_249 DSL_combo_500 & DSL_combo-B. New Customer in Unlimited and Combo plan who have not completed 6 months will not be charged monthly modem Rental however they will be charged modem rental after completion of 6 months of service.

Even I took the modem due to same reason.
I actually have my own modem.
I would like to ask whether they are charging rental for wifi modem only?

No they are charging even for normal modems. Mtnl has actually cheated us. They should now refund our money so that we can go ahead and purchase a modem of our own rather then paying them rent.
