    have a talk with that toll free number and request
    As you now know, the firmware resides inside the Texas Instruments chip and is locked, we cant take out.\

    @essbebe, the Australian version wont allow you to open Indian pages like 192. etc
    they have their own code.

    ajitesh_m
    , only D-Link service can help you now --- and if they can't or won't, you are the proud owner of a paperweight.

    You discovered the hard way, the meaning of "bricking" and why firmware upgrades of such devices should only be done when necessary and with great care. Join the club!

    Hope you get sorted ...

    they did fr me 6 months back
    i am sure if ajitesh_m approaches , they would either send a copy, or guide him send his modem some place where their agents physically load it. he has to talk and approach the nearest State capital RMA of D LInk. the location can be fopund from the link i provided.

    mean time if any one has a cd or firmware of Dlink DSL103i , I would appeal for a copy.
    this modem is made in India and supplied in bulk to one of the ISPs. unfortunately DLink support is still searching their archives for a link to this product.

    Don't take offence! None intended ... I have a useless device in the cupboard. It was a rather neat external DVD drive/player before I decided to upgrade it. Thus I sympathise and always try to persuade people against doing the same.

    D-Link kit gets some criticism, but I like it. Bought my router from their own office in Chennai about three years ago. Have not flashed it, but have looked to see what was available. Very, very sensitive, not just model but even version number.

    All the best. Do keep us informed. Feedback on a company's support quality is important.

    @essbebe,
    I am equally eager to know. Unless Ajitesh is located in a state capital, perhaps it takes longer time.

    The GLB502-T , i had, i have given off at 70/- each ( along with two Huawei models) to a Bengali person. they are working fine for them, as I confirmed from him
    In fact i could have requested for a firmware copy , but these RMA centres , being contract service providers, would not agree to part.

    @essbebe and @mvs sarma

    I went to lamington road service centre in mumbai..

    I asked about the product warranty..
    They said its a very old model and could not determine its warranty through their database..
    I did not say anythng about what i did to the router.
    then the engineer took it for service..
    He said that it would take 500rs to change a chip on the pcb and he also added that even after doing it there is no guarantee it would work correctly as some parts are rusted.

    So i didnt go for it and ordered MTNL wifi router for 600Rs ..currently using it.
    Its a Beetel router with MTNL branding.

    I even opened the router and checked for rust after reaching home..There was nothing like rust..I think the enginneer was not in mood.

    Thanks guys for all your effort..

    such rate on second sale is possible in metros when customers upgrade their modems /laptops, the old ones would be sold cheaply.
    i had one UTstar WA3000G4 through ebay.in at 860/-. The item looked new almost. the first user used for few months, he felt too much hi billing and thus shifted to some other firm. keeping old one in store. later he offered on e-bay. Such sales are possible.

    well, the flashing i did was for the DSL 103i model. i believe we can do the same for all models running on the TI AR7RD architecture. Dlink incidentaly is known to use this chipset in majority of the models. while some are based on the broadcom chipset too like BCM6338, BCM6348, etc.

    I was very exited by the fact that it was possible to flash my router with open source firmware...

    So i opened it to SEE THIS:

    imageshackXus/photo/my-images/690/p2108111343.png

    the main chip u mentioned had a heat sink on it ...
    i removed the heat sink to see the chip no..
    Its ..TNETD7200GDW

    aLSO your router has pins for serial connection while MINE doesnt have any..

    imageshackXus/photo/my-images/189/p2108111344.jpg

    Is it still possible????

    {i wasnt able to post images .... so replace X with . in imageshackXus}

    Well, even mine didnt have the pins originally. i traced the layout and soldered the pins to connect console.Fotunately, my board had the MAX3232 onboard. For your, we may be able to do the same and use a TTL to RS232 convertor externally to make the connection ( This board lacks the MAX3232 Chipset !)

    Once successfully done, we can update the firmware to open source.

    Thanks
    Bobby

    Hi guys i was able to sucessfully unbrick my router with routertech 2.96 firmware

    Thank u very much for all the help u provided.

    mvssarma - really thanks for asking for the repair.......

    bobbyks - ur thread really helped as i would have never known such firmware ever existed.
    I read all the docs on the website.
    My bootloader (PSPboot) was intact so the serial cable wasnt required.
    I just set all the environment variables required.
    Even my MAC addresses of the router were lost during the failed update.Thankfully they were behind the router as stickers.

    I sucessfully flashed the router using Pcboot 2.4 tool with Routertech.org firmware.
    Thats all. I am posting this post using the same router

    thanks evryone..

    Ready to Help anyone facing the same problem.
