Default MTNL Delhi Unlimited Plan speed.

I have a 949 UnLimited TriBand connection for last One month.
Last was terrific regarding download speeds. I was getting around 220-230KBps while downloading through torrents but suddenly it drops to max 25KBps. I don't know what is the reason?
My DLink GLB 502T shows DSL Speed: 256/256kbps. Earlier in happy times it was DSL Speed: 256/2048kbps.
Has MTNL quietly reduced the speed?

When i register for this plan i was told that this plan has download speed of upto 2Mbps.

I have made complaint to the MTNL. Let's see what come up from there?

Yes, it's happened in Mumbai also. I used to have 150+ speeds for the first 3-4 months. Now it doesn't go above 25.

After 9 years on dialup & 6 months on Tata Indicom CDMA connection i got a broadband connection. I was getting 20-22KBps on Tata Indicom.

Changing my plan to 749 NU tomorrow.
    Its the best plan.
Simply put it mathematically 16 hours on 256kbps = 2 hours on 2048kbps.

It is a known issue mate. If you go to their website, Unlimited plans will be only getting 256kbps plans nothing more, so you were lucky to get that and accept this fact. You can else move to 749NU plan which is 2Mbps plan.

you have to pay Rs 9000 to get unlimited plan with 2mbps speed. Rs 599 plan has 256kbps that is 32 kilobytes per second of download and upload speed, check the tarrif at mtnl site, ur doubt will get clear. please see my other post, my first post, i can't give the url as this is just my 3rd post and clear my query, DOES YOUR IP ADDRESS CHANGES WHEN YOU SWITCH OFF\ON YOUR MODEM, PLEASE TELL ME .

Post Transfer Rate in around 12 % of browsing Speed.

    Hi,

If you are getting 25 kbps transfer rate on the browsing speed of 256 kbps then its normal speed. Because downloading speed or data transfer speed is around 12 % of the browsing speed.

    Thanks

    Exclamation its kbps not kBps

    hello there
    This is vineet.

I would like to tell everyone that the companies (all) are offering sppeds in dimension of 256 kbps ie kilo bits per second.
Its not kiolo BYTEs per second.

The download speed shown is given by kBps ie kilo Bytes per second. for example 256 kbps means 2000 bits per second

That is why for an 256kbps you have 256/8 = 32kBps download speed and it fluctuates round there.
This may be considered as an spoof, but it is used

I hope that resolves the issue and doubt in the mind of people.

Default download actual speed is 1/8 of internet speed

If you have taken the plan of 256 then technically, your download speed will be 256/8 = 32 kb/second.
If you are getting the speed of 26, it means its working at speed 208 kbps.

I have connection at speed 512 kbps and gets download speed of around 60 kb/sec.
