Question How to configure MTNL internet on BSNL wifi modem?

    Hi everyone

I have a BSNL Teracom Wifi modem(Model No.: T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y-BI). I want to configure my present MTNL internet connection onto this modem & use it instead because my MTNL modem has been giving me trouble.

    Help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Visit MTNL bhabhi's site !
    http://www.calcutta.bsnl.co.in/dataoneinstall/mu12.html
vpi vci for MTNL 0 and 32. rest as usual.
    DNS MTNL's or google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

If MTNL modem(router) is Sterlite/Trendchip model mention the problem.

Thanks a million essbebe! It worked. Though I didn't enter the DNS address anywhere.

I'm still having problems with the internet connection though. I had an MTNL TKD 318-EUI modem in the beginning which worked fine for about 4 months after some initial hiccups, until 2 weeks back where it started giving me erratic download speeds, slow upload speeds & sometimes disconnection. MTNL broadband guy replaced it with an old Sterlite modem yesterday, the download speeds were stable but slow upload, there were still disconnections. I have a 1Mbps download, 512kbps upload speed plan.
I've attached the BSNL modem today & the speeds are stable but upload is slow & the frequent disconnections are not yet gone & it takes even longer to reconnect. Here are the details -

    Downstream Data Rate- 1149 kbps
    Upstream Data Rate- 296 kbps
Max Att Downstream Rate- 4672 kbps
Max Att Upstream Rate- 250 kbps
    SNR (Downstream)- 14.00 dB
    SNR (Upstream)- 5.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream)- 24.5 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream)- 17.0 dB
    Connected Standard- ADSL2

I've noticed that the SNR rates keep fluctating from 14-30dB(downstream) & 4-15dB(upstream).

I had called the lineman when this problem happened with the previous modem & he said that the splitter & the line are all right.

I also have an Airtel boradband at home so I hope there's no interference sort of a problem between the two.

    Thanks.

    Try GDMT.
Which modem/router in use now ?
MTNL could have given you Sterlite Sam 300AX.
( This model and another 15 other models based on same
    hardware/firmware/software in use by /BSNL/MTNL/AIRTEL)
Check my signature link/s for 90% of modems used by our ISP's

If interested link for TKD model can be given.

I've changed it to GDMT from the "AnnexA Port Attribute List" section(attached screenshot). But it now shows ADSL2+ in the connected standard. The connection isn't getting disconnected right now(maybe later, I hope not!) but my upload speed is still 41.2kBps, earlier I used to get around 50-52kBps.

Right now I'm using the BSNL Wifi router/modem. Yes, MTNL did give me Sterlite SAM300 AX. But I'm thinking of using the BSNL(more convenient as wifi/modem all in one) & return the MTNL modem.

Here are the updated rates -
    Downstream Data Rate 1149 kbps
    Upstream Data Rate 392 kbps
Max Att Downstream Rate 8320 kbps
Max Att Upstream Rate 416 kbps
    SNR (Downstream)- 14.70 dB
    SNR (Upstream)- 4.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream)- 28.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream)- 17.0 dB
    Connected Standard- ADSL2+

Are my SNR/Attenuation rates optimum for the 1Mbps connection I have?

I didn't have the exact same options(screenshot) but I've switched off "A2PLus". The connected standard is now just "ADSL2".

The internet performance still hasn't improved, and my upload speed keeps ranging from 30-40kBps only. I've noticed that the internet performs even worse when multiple computer are connected, i.e. slightly more disconnections & web pages don't appear properly formatted(just plain text and pictures)

    Here's the update -
    Downstream Data Rate 1149 kbps
    Upstream Data Rate 288 kbps
Max Att Downstream Rate 4588 kbps
Max Att Upstream Rate 304 kbps
    SNR (Downstream) 13.85 dB
    SNR (Upstream) 6.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream) 24.5 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream) 17.0 dB
    Connected Standard ADSL2
