Unhappy Help: Mac OSX Snow Leopard not connecting with MTNL 450TC1

I'm trying to connect my 450TC1 MTNL Triband router wirelessly to my Macbook Pro which is running Snow Leopard. I'm already connected to the router via LAN and I can surf without any trouble, but I think I'm doing something wrong here which is preventing the notebook to connect wirelessly. I tried Airport diagnostics & assistant to no avail as well. Please help me.

Do you use a dialer to connect ? Use PPPoE mode for modem and try. Check using any Windows PC and see if it is working on it.

Thanks for your prompt reply. How do I check whether I am using a dialer or PPPoE mode for modem? I don't have knowledge of any such thing. Also I'm using a Windows Vista PC on LAN connection with 450TC1 and working perfectly well. Please help.

Can you connect your Vista PC just by plugging in the cable ? Or you need to click on a dialer and then the "connect " button in it ? A dialer is a window in which you need to input your ID and password just like in the time of dial ups.

    To do

    1. Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser

    2. You will be asked for ID and password, enter both as admin.

    3. Post the screen shot.

The PC connects automatically everytime I start, I don't have to login using user/password. Screenshot posted here. Let me know.

Are you able to connect your Vista PC wirelessly ?

Post the screen shot of wireless and wireless security page. Disable password and MAC filter (if any) and try.

    This may help

Hi, I don't think my PC has a wireless adapter so I can only connect with LAN. I have posted the screenshot from my modem's wireless page.

Remove password and check. Hope you tried the link I gave, if you are using your Vista PC at the same time, in the LAN adapter set " Obtain IP address automatically ". See if there is a similar option in Mac too.

Once you set it up, borrow a Windows laptop from a friend and check if it is working.

I had already changed the password on the router, that created this issue in the first place. I realized from MTNL that your CA Number is the password. I did the same with the Windows PC and it connected. But Mac is not connecting.

Remove the encryption under " Authentication Type " (use " none ") in the wireless settings screen shot you posted.

I did the same with the Windows PC and it connected.

You tried with a Windows laptop and it connected wirelessly ?

    See you tomorrow.

Hi, the router is not allowing to go ahead without choosing an authentication type. There's no option called "none" in the list.

No I did not. I have a Windows laptop too and I shall connect tomorrow and see.

The problem was resolved. When the devices ask for a password, just put the Pre-shared key (found at - router admin interface > Interface Set Up > Wireless) as the password.

Thanks for all your help once again.
