Thread: Unstable ADSL connection

Hi!

I have had a 2Mbps connection from MTNL for the past three years. Starting a few months back, the connection suddenly has become very unstable. My snr data isn't too bad, and I've also had a linesman come to my place and connect the telephone after the splitter.
Sometimes, the connection literally drops every few seconds, so it's pretty much impossible to use it. On the other hand, I've seen it stay stable for hours sometimes. Does anyone here have similar problems? I'm using a Netgear DG834G router.

Downstream SNR:9dB
Attenuation:39.5dB
Upstream SNR:8dB
Attenuation:28dB

Try mod mode GDMT.
Check contacts for rusting/blackening/ high resistance
Suggest replace with new short Rj11 and rj45 cables.
SNR should increase and attenuation reduced.

Something similar happened to me, it was a modem issue (had this issue with both wireless n wired routers) they replaced it. the DNA wireless ones are the worst.
The net is pretty reliable so any recurring problem
1. either a router issue.
2. hardware fault (line has fault/splitter has fault)

the dns is seldom down(once in months)
