Default Home Networking, just dont understand the setup

    Hi guys,

I m fairly new to this forum, reason being i dread networking. I love anything from coding to gfx, and yes learnt all with the help of forums like this, but never had it in me to learn networking.

Now i have been stuck with this problem for a quite long time, as long as i can remember, but this would prolly be the first time i ll be posting on a forum to learn. Anyhow i need to stop jabbering and let you know my problem. I have a dsl router that is connected to my ISP directly. For wireless internet around the house I've got Linksys WRT110g router that routes the internet to all the laptops in my house, namingly my dad's windows laptop, my mac, and my mom's desktop. Now what i want is, convert my mom's desktop into a server so that all the laptops connected to this one wifi can access the desktop just like anything. And yes before i forget all these computers access the internet through the same wifi router including the desktop. Now while i want there to be a LAN in the house, with the desktop acting as a server, for the main reason, its there inside the house switched on all the time, i also want to access the server over the internet through SSH.

Thank you for bearing with but there is more. As far as what I've read on the internet, due to my dynamic IP, i needed a hostname, so behold No-Ip.com comes in play. So I have assigned my dynamic IP a host name that updates through the client I've installed. The thing is till now everything is wokring, but when i access the hostname assigned to my IP i reach my dsl router setup page. And i have no clue how to reach my computer through the same connection. One of my friends told me about port forwarding a particular port so that router allows me to reach my computer, but like i said, I suck big time with anything close to networking. God knows how i read all those website about dns, ips, public ips, traceroutes and what not.
I was hoping the brilliant minds at networking forum to come to my rescue and help me setup this for myself.

Please Please need a good advice. Thank you for reading all this and hopefully one of you people can help me out of my misery.

    Thank You

I ll post some more info in order to help you help me.
    My Setup is
ISP--->>ADSL ROUTER(Mtnl) --->>> Linksys Wifi Router (WRT110G)--->> WiFi all around! I hope this helps.
My Adsl Modem is "Kasda - T-KD 318-MI (MTNL Firmware)". Private IP for ADSL modem's 192.168.1.1, while the IP assigned to my computer is 192.168.5.104...! 192.168.5.1 being the default gateway for WiFi.

    Update -

OK now i have setup my MTNL AdSL modem to bridge mode, and my Linksys runs on PPoE mode. So the internal IP i get on my wifi is 192.168.1.XXX, which used to be my ADSL gateway(192.168.1.1)

    Change to PPPoE mode.Port forwarding
Enter ip address of computer in DMZ> say 192.168.1.5
Check from a desktop or laptop not part of your lan.

    Bridge mode ,
You use an external dialer and enter Userid/PW to connect to Internet. All ports are open."Bridged"

    PPPoE mode :
In WAn settings page of modem uncheck button "Bridged"
Select PPPoE" Enter Your UserID/PW in the menu page.
Port forwarding/Virtual Server/ Port triggering options available.

    confirm modem menu pages similar:
