    Default Exceptionally High Downloads

I have been a TriBand user for past 3 years and we both being senior citizens have very limited use of internet - maximum 1 hour a day and that too to browse email and news paper sites.

My sessions never exceeded 300MB per month so far, however since October this year, I am getting exceptionally high download of more than 3GB per month resulting in my MTNL bills shooting up drastically! There is no change in my usage pattern.

I made a complaint to MTNL and they have sent me day-wise session history for past two months. I am unable to argue with them.

Even if I log on for 10 mins, the session history shows 100MB + downloads.

Has anyone faced this problem before? I feel this problem has started from early October when I had called an MTNL Technician to repair my connection which was not working for several days.

Any help will be appreciated. I feel some one has done some mischief with my connection.

Thanks Manish. I do not use WiFi, but I will check for viruses as my license seems to have expired and laptop had crashed once.

    1. Use a good firewall. Most of them will show you which program / service is connecting to internet. If some unknown program is doing so, disable it.

    2. Some programs connect to internet to update. Disable auto update for all programs.

    Use this guide for firewall
