Thread: In need of Adsl modem for MTNL Delhi

I have been using MTNL wired BB since 2006. My modem is UT-300R2U (T-KD 318-EUI), for which MTNL charges me Rs. 50/- per month plus taxes.

I want to buy a ADSL modem for my Desktop (MTNL Term - Subscriber Owned). Do not need any router as do not have any other device yet. (Just modem is required).

There is a shop in Nehru place - Cost2Cost.

Please guide me which ADSL modem and version no. would replace this UT-300R2U modem. The lights freeze, whenever i activate/ON this modem. Probably it has become old. I want to return it to MTNL.

What does ADSL2 mean. Would it also be compatible.

Is it possible for the new modem to be less than Rs. 2000/-

Any adsl modem will do. ADSl2+ is additional mod mode in modem.

For which you could have purchased at least three adsl modems , or one adsl modem and wifi router !!
At least in BSNl they offer us, to buy out the modem giving 50% rebate of rental paid.
Cost say Rs R1000/= ( rent paid say Rs 1500/=) purchase for Rs 250/=+ taxes. ( Exchange also allowed : Except DECLARED DEAD on arrival !!!)

I visited MTNL Sanchar Haat today, and these people told me of two modems:

Beetle 110 TCI and Dlink (any of the latest).

Of the ADSL modems, Sterlite SAM300Ax/TPlink 8816 ( cost Rs 1145/= /TPlink 8817cost Rs 1199/= ) /Beetel110 TCI/ IB Baton Lr6111A/etc..
Cost approx Rs 1000/= to Rs 1300/=, which of these you think, I should ask in order-wise.

So that when I visit the shop. I know what to ask in what order.
From your answers in earlier posts, I have ranked them as
1. Beetle 110 TCI
2. IB Batpn Lr6111 A

Do I need to purchase ADSL Splitter / Switch too. In future, should I go for a router, would they be compatible with these modems.

Visited Nehru Place. These people claimed ignorance on IB Baton Lr6111A.

Beetel110 TCI - Would be available after 1-2 weeks.

All they were interested in was DLINK 2.4 with router.

Are there any trustworthy online sites, where I can get the modems.

just talk to the local line man...he'll arrange one for you

or go to the exchange where the old modems are submitted..buy one from them..they dont install the old submitted modems
cheap n good..u can get a wifi modem @ price of normal modem
