ADSL providers in India like BSNL, MTNL have configured their DSLAMs and access concentrators to run G.DMT mode. Although the router may select ADSL2+, which is backward compatable with all the DSL modes, it better to configure it is G.DMT. Marginal increase in SNR and hence slightly stable/higher speeds can be expected in this mode.

I rated it as 9 as the speed is good but sometimes(1 or 2 times) it is not consistent. Otherwise it is good and cheaper than others

1] I got connection within 3 days after applying.

    2] I am getting great speed of 1.72 Mbps i.e. 210-215 KB/s :001_tt2:

    3] I have DSL 849 NU plan hence I can download 4GB/night :001_tt2:

4] Once I got problem with net connection then I called 1504 and my problem was solved within 1 hour.

So I am giving 10/10

    Unhappy major MTNL issue

I gave MTNL 9 of 10 as I know of a lot of people who have their connection with MTNL however never face a problem. Besides the service being known to be stable their price plans and user policies [Fair usage policy] are very good

As of me I have a major issue as I tried to sigh up for the "plan 180" for the telephone line and a NU plan over the internet

The self care page helped me to select all the details I needed and even too the initial deposit and installation charges of Rs 500 through my credit card. My CC was charged for the same. For the next two days the MTNL guys came over to my house to setup the connection however I was not at home as I work, also my stupid neighbours did not inform me until a week later
I dropped a mail to the MTNL helpdesk guys for the same and they sent a generic answer "Dear customer, Please contact on xxxx 2000(xxxx - Exchange Code)."
the wadala exchange is locale to me and I have no idea what my exchange code
Also I want to know in Mumbai its self how long exactly does a new connection take to be setup

Though it is run by Govt. but services provided by it are better than some private ISP's like Sify.

As far as my experience with MTNL nothing has gone wrong.CC is dumb but still they sent a representative in time.

Not many downtimes.Very rare and that too max for 1-2 hrs.

I am using MTNL from around 1 yr now and i am very satisfied with it.

How is that possible?I thought that copper wires lines of MTNL ADSL 2 have limit of 16mbps. Theoritically you might get 24 mbps but MTNL have set a limit on it.
Technically you might get speed of 55mBps(bytes not bits) on cooper wires but I don't know of any technology reaching it.

    Hi,
I am using the mtnl boradband for last one year.
I am very satisfied with the service and speed.
I have the line down for only a day or two and thats also because of fire at telephone exchange.
I can say that my connection is always on.
there is a problem of customer care but if you call them they will atleast try to solve your problem.

I called up 1504 yesterday and they tried to resolve it on phone but couldn't do it. Then they communicated that they have transferred the complaint to Gokuldham exchange and someone will come to my residence and they gave me the no. 022 28421200 to check further. When I called 02228421200 in the morning, i was asked to call Mr. Naik @ 28492100 or Mr. H R Yadav at 28432100. But no one attended the call even though I tried for almost an hour. Then I again called 1504 and I was asked to call the online no. @ 24361221. Here, I was asked to call the Divisional Engineer at 28402000. I managed to talk to Mr. Tiwari at this no. and he has said that someone will come today for a checking my line. Hopefully someone will come today.

This whole experience has been very frustrating. When other private operators are lining up for giving more competition to MTNL, this kind of service will definately do lot of harm in future.
yes sometimes MTNL can be frustrating with complains.
Best is to go to exchange and have a meeting with the sub divisional engineer (the guy in charge of lines) it should sort most problems.
There is nothing like a personal visit though it can be frustating sometimes

I recently shifted to 512 kbps from 2 mbps, why - 'coz 2mbps UL is way too expensive.
The connection seems to be working fine till that one (not so) fine day, when it begins to break, then on it happens way too frequently for anybody's liking.
Now even Airtel are matching with MTNL on the price range, and their service is definitely better.
So with these recent developments, MTNL is way low on my rank and review.

    9/10.

I have been using MTNL BB for past one yr, the quality is excellent - the best i have experienced so far!

But, like many have said, it works like a charm until you encounter an issue. The moment the net goes down, its not an easy thing to bring it back up!!!

    Thumbs up

Well i'll give it 9 out of 10!
I am getting good service and the internet connection never drops out the speed is also good...i mean on 512Kbps i am getting 508-510Kbps which is very good if compared to other ISP's and if any problem arises i directly contact senior officers at Sanchar Haat/Exchange & it gets sorted out very soon and i never waste my time dialing 1504/1500!!

    Unhappy

I have voted 6 because my speed is fine, but my internet connection goes on disconnecting. The status page of my router shows "Waiting for responce"
Only if I reboot my router the net connection is resumed.

Inspite of internet disconnection my IPTV Services are running fine. Can someone please suggest a Solution?
    I have 512UL plan
    Thanks in advance
