I'm frustrated with the service response of MTNL. My broadband hasn't been working for the last 1 week and I have been running from one phone no. to another and unable to come to a resolution. I called the Gokuldham exchange last satrurday and they told me that someone will come to resolve. But no one turned up. I called up 1504 yesterday and they tried to resolve it on phone but couldn't do it. Then they communicated that they have transferred the complaint to Gokuldham exchange and someone will come to my residence and they gave me the no. 022 28421200 to check further. When I called 02228421200 in the morning, i was asked to call Mr. Naik @ 28492100 or Mr. H R Yadav at 28432100. But no one attended the call even though I tried for almost an hour. Then I again called 1504 and I was asked to call the online no. @ 24361221. Here, I was asked to call the Divisional Engineer at 28402000. I managed to talk to Mr. Tiwari at this no. and he has said that someone will come today for a checking my line. Hopefully someone will come today.
This whole experience has been very frustrating. When other private operators are lining up for giving more competition to MTNL, this kind of service will definately do lot of harm in future.
i will give a 9 out of 10....me pretty satsified from them...it never goes down , ssly its downtime is very less as compared to other isps...and i get 256k speed regularly...
I have given 8 out of 10. The speed is great but the connection is not consistent. If the connection stops breaking in between or remains always on, it would be quite better.
The linesman came finally on Saturday and resolved the issue. My point is that as long as the connection is up and running, the performance is good, infact very satisfactory. But once it goes down, you really can't figure out, how are these guys going to resolve the issue. They take the customers so casually.
ill give it a 7 because of their poor customer support and that i get only 256kbps instead of 512kbps speed in 749NU plan....and not having unlimited download plan in mumbai....otherwise pretty satisfied....
i jst feel they should have clock on thier website, so that NU plan people know when it is 12pm and when it is 8am according to mtnl
Is there any rating lower than 1 in your polls.
Every MTNL customer will say one or the other day:
"I m fat but I can run faster than my internet connection"
question is not of speed but of service and reliability and on this count mtnl's rating is certainly below 0, once service is down, it will never going to restore unless u have link in rastrapati bhawan. If not beliving, wait till service is down at you.

i am sorry i wanted to give 0 rating to these mtnl people but as to their good luck i clicked on 10 for them.

cos their speed in south delhi is awsome
But when it comes to customer service......horrible....1504 never gets answered.
But if ur complain is regestered, either by trying 20 times!! or using IVR.
Their field service is very very fast
AND yes i have never ever faced any billing problem since 7 years!!
AIRTEL, had to settle it at least 4 times, and eventually ended up paying them something more than they deserved and terminated it....4 times!!! and they r still willing to fit another new connection!!!! Chooor sallle![]()

im just waiting for the arrival of some good isp in india which will provide speed with unlimited plans..unlike these miserly mtnl idiots..
I rated it a 8/10.Reduced it by 2 points due to the non-existent CC.The speeds are awesome & downtimes are fairly low.
id give it a 9/10...as said before 1 pt gone coz of CC...but the speeds i get are incredible..can dwnd 3-4 gb data every nght which is not possible with any other service provider at the price of Rs 849 per month.
Who formed Mtnl....who r the people who manage the network system...are there any??...Whenever i call the customer care for solution, the only remedy they have is "pls call 197 and speak to the area manager, and as expected the phone keeps ringing..ringing..ringing..ringing..ringing..ringi ng.........and ringing till it automatically disconnects itself...
U know people what i think, is that even the area manager is busy calling the the MTNL customer care to get his internet connection problem sorted out...hahahaha!!:19:
MTNL u truly deserve a rating of 0 when it comes to customer care and a rating of 10 for customer -torture...

i might have to think of u as an MTNL employee cos how in the world r u able to download 3-4 gb data every single night??...that too on a NU plan or any plan for that matter...

Except for their Customer Service the overall service is quite good.
Anyways no ISP in India has a good customer service.
Infact no company whether its ISP or Any other has good Customer Service
i m srsly frstrtd wid mtnl ,just for voting for this it took 5 minutes ,i m using it for past one month and only during diwali holydays i got continuous speed of around 1mbps and for rest of period IT DISCONNECTS AFTER EVERY MINUTE AND FOR ONE MINUTE I DUNNO WAT THE SPEED IS BECAUSE DURING EVERY SPEED CHEDK IT DISCONNECTS!!!!!!!!!!
MTNL Sucks Big Time .. half of time its down no customer service .. gets disconnected very offen .. i had the 256 Unlimited plan in which i was getting the speed of 2 Mbps but on a very nice day they decided to revert it back to 256 .. i changed the plan to 512 kbps but again its very slow .. Waiting for the RailWire to come to Delhi so i can change the ISP ..

im also using 256 kbps UL plan, got it 3 days back.my max. speed is also 2 mbps. may i know after how much time they will reduce it.
after how much time they downgraded ur bandwidth? i have taken the same plan 4 days ago.
bihari people dnt even know what ping is....facing high ping problem for past 2 months..!
as long as the internet is working fine there are no issues with service once it stops working the customer support on 1504 is pathetic they have no idea abt how to troubleshoot internet issues i had issue where i could not open diff websites they said they will checkfrom server end when i went through one of the posts in this forum the issue was resolved.
Ravi its almost the same story with every isp's customer support not just MtnlI have got a tata wimax connection and they are even worse.

i have this triB256 ul plan since august,and to my surprise i was getting 2Mbps speed(2042Kbps to be precise).
fir a sify broadband 64Kbps user,the speed that i got from mtnl was like heaven.
Suddenly three days ago i saw on my router's page.. the speed was reduced to 1342 Kbps.And i was lyk,damn i need the 2 Mbps speed(even though i pay for 256,but you know humans are greedy :P, at least i am)
So i decided to play through the router's settings.
I stumbled to a page where i could select the modulation type of my router
some checkboxes like
ADSL.G.dmt
ADSL.G.dmt_lite
ADSL
ADSL2
ADSL2+
and many more
i unchecked all and left the ADSL.G.dmt checked and clicked apply.
There i go
the speed was back to 2042:gunsmilie:
I dunno,if this happened by chance,or its just my luck.
Give it a shot guys,you can always revert back to the original settings if it does not work.
Let me know the results.
