    Are you talking about router's admin password or broadband password. Router's admin password does not change automatically but try 'admin/admin' just in case.

    As regards to broadband password, BSNL forces user to use the word "password" as password. They do this to force some changes to the router's BSNL settings. Don't know about MTNL.

    Someone who knew your router password would have only been able to change it.

    Connect your router to your computer using a LAN cable and change the wifi password that way. If you are certain that no one in your household changed it then I can assure you that some one near by hacked into your router and changed it. I would suggest switching it off asap and change the password quickly.

    You said your wifi router password has changed. The login through LAN cable would not need your wifi password. If your modem's login password is the one you having problems with then I would suggest resetting it. There is no other way.

    @Sandeep

    It is possible to do anything. It is just a simple machine and anyone with a bit of brains and understanding of how networking security works they can hack into your computer/modem or whatever really but I wonder why some one would do that to you. It is common for kids of hack into protected wifi networks to use free internet but generally they dont mean harm if you dont count stealing bandwidth as harm to yourself

    Change your modems password asap.

    What is the make and model of your modem/router? Do you have any other way to connect to the net to come to this forum if you get stuck with the settings? If you do then people here can guide you step by step. If not I would suggest you get your local computer wala to set it up for you.

    If you do not use wifi then keep it turned off. If you do use it then try to turn it off atleast when you know you wont need it for extended period of time. Most routers have a button to turn wifi on or off.

    Make sure u have ur broadband username ,password.Then hard reset the modem.you should now be able to log in to the modem with ip 192.168.1.1 hit enter , then use username : admin; password: admin to login to the modem and configure the modem afresh with your broadband username, password.

    For Mtnl if I remember correctly the user name is your telephone number and password your account number/customer number which can both be found on your mtnl bill.
