Try to be a little bit more eloborate on what type of sites are not opening. If you cannot discuss those sites here, you can give a hint of it. It could be that mtnl could have blocked it or something like that (though i have not heard of it since). But needed more eloboration from your side to help out.

You can try browsing those sites through Anonymouse.org and see whether it is indeed working or not. It should work though. And let us know about the result. Although this is not a permanent solution but could be a temporary solution to help you immediately.

ya mtnl was suffering with this prob...lots of sites werent opening..but its all fixed today,...when such a thing happens best is to use proxy softwares like JAP or freedom and access all sites through them..all sites open through them..yesterday i used your freedom only which can be download from your-freedom.net

PeerGuardian is IP blocker for Windows.

From the website: PeerGuardian 2 integrates support for multiple lists, list editing, automatic updates, and blocking all of IPv4 (TCP, UDP, ICMP, etc), making it the safest and easiest way to protect your privacy on P2P.

Hey. I've got the same problem since last night. I desperately needed to visit indyforums.net to download some videos but now it takes ages to load, if it does at all.

This occurs on both my MTNL connections, while it isn't occuring from other connections like TATA and VSNL.

I downloaded about 1400 MB from that site on 29th Jan.

on 30th, I could not download anything.

I tried calling them and finally when I got through and spoke for about 20 mins checking the router, he just disconnected me.

Does anyone know what I can do. Proxies won't help as I can't download files from indyforum.net's private server anymore.

    Torrentreactor.to is also apparently blocked.

Even I have been experiencing this problem since a couple of days.
It started out small, just slowing down of page loading, but now many sites that I need to use everyday are not opening. For e.g.: Photobucket. Even Anonymouse.org was not able to load these sites.
Even my chat applications have problems connecting. Yesterday, I had an lag of 29 seconds. Compare this to the fact that a lag of 2-3 secs is bothersome. That means it was enormous.
The download speeds are making me cry. My download accelerator is struggling to get up to 30 KBPS and the normal windows downloads can hardly reach 15.

If anyone knows more about this matter, or any solution, please help.

Default some sites not open - try to use open dns

I dont know much about "how to increase download speed", but I suggest you about some sites not open problem.

use open dns for safer and faster browsing :

change your dns names to : 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220

    (OR)

your try these dns settings also : 61.1.96.71, 61.1.96.69

    (OR)

    202.144.50.4, 202.144.66.6

To change these settings you need to open your internet connection properties -- > TCP/IP Properties.

post reply if it works. all these 3 types are working well with bsnl dataone broadband. I too was faced the same problem (not able to open .co.uk,.in extension websites or websites hosted on u.k server doesn't respond). Finally open dns helped me.

if you are getting this problem then i would say that you should turn off your modem and then turn it on ... and then may be then you would be able to access the same site.
