    Default MTNL Broadband 8mbps Plans

I live in Mumbai and thinking of getting a MTNL broadband connection which is 8mbps, need some feedback though on how good the connection is and whether you actually get 8mbps or not.
I have previously used a Reliance connection but it has started playing up, are there any problems with MTNL broadband as well?

MTNL is a good service provider, and most of the MTNL connections work fine, it also highly depends on the wire quality which is being used. If anyone near you is using MTNL ask them what the speeds are like but it is most likely you would get the stated 8mbps.

It would all depend on the department on how much time they take. I think when I got my connection many years ago I got my connection 3 days after applying for it, but to be on the safe side I would give it max a week after applying.

If you are not having MTNL landline, it may be costlier to you.
If you have other cable broadband service providers like Spectranet / Vovinet in your area. It is cheaper and faster also.

I had used MTNL earlier. It works well in the newer complexes where the wiring is new. On noisy lines it is very unpredictable.
If it doesnt work in your area, do not even think of it. My brother gave up in Govandi area under mankhurd telephone exchange as nobody would resolve the noisy line complaint as it means replacing the wholde wired network from exchange to the colony.

It worked good for me at Navi Mumbai as the wiring was new. However, as I said it started turning out to be costlier than other options, so I made a switch about an year ago.
