    Angry Worst Broadband in the World:MTNL



    A few months back when I heard about the MTNL 2Mbps speed plan,I was rejoiced.I decided to get a MTNL broadband connection.All went well from connecting to setting up internet connection.But soon I realised that no page is being displayed whereas all the things(i.e.connections,settings,etc.) were alright.Immediately,I called the MTNL helpline but even they were confused & could not figure it out.After many complains this problem was solved.
    After that I got my next shock.A bill was sent to me for 1 month of broadband access which was dated 1 month before when I got my broadband connection.
    For a few months I enjoyed a good speed.But after few months,I found that my broadband speed is decreasing from 240-250Kbps to 12-24Kbps.So,I called the MTNL helpline & complained about the matter.They used to say the same thing(i.e.there server is down for the day or there is some problem in my area)whenever I call the helpline for enquiring my status of my complain.There are some instances even when there is no connection at all.
    So,from my experiences,I request people not to select MTNL broadband.

    MTNL is one of the worst company i have ever used. I would say that they need to improve a lot before they can see any good responce from people.

    On the Contrary, I love MTNL Broadband. Never had problem with them, now using it for past 1yr. Slight issues occured in the past but nothing major. Never got frustrated. In my opinion, if one knows how to go with the modem, and how to go with it overall, it is pretty good. The best in South Delhi, where i live

    To the post of yours in my thread,I like to say it is not that if you are getting quality service in south Delhi,I will get it in Maharashtra too.Also,you told that,"if one knows how to go with the modem, and how to go with it overall, it is pretty good".By saying these you are trying to mean that all those who are having problem with their ISP's,they don't know how to use their modem and net.Please mind your language before posting such comments. Express your views without hurting any sufferer.Once when you suffer,only then you will know what suffering is?

    Well i can understand exactly how one feels, i have gone through trouble as well when i had Sify, Reliance, etc. I should make this clear that, by posting my above reply - I just wanted the visitors here (on this forum) to realize that MTNL is not just bad bad as the Title of this topic suggests. There are large no. of guys who are very happy with this ISP. I had no intention of hurting anyone here.

    Default mtnl does suck

    my neighbour has been using the mtnl broadband 2mbps connection in mumbai from a couple of months. i must say that it sucks. the download speeds are good but the connection is often down and the customer service of mtnl is the worst in the world.
    repeated complints do not solve the problem

    Post Better speed n reliability with mobile ISP

    I am using Nokia N73 having Vodafone sim card.I get better speed without disconnection with my Vodafone sim card.By saying this I mean to say that though mobile telephony is using 2G,they provide better speeds.Ironically,my broadband service provide promises to deliver 2Mbps whereas I get very poor speeds with frequent disconnection.

    Plz note that I am giving the example of my mobile service provider not to promote it or I say that it is best.My intention is to compare both.

    Angry mtnl the worst

    mtnl is worst of all. first they offer 2mbps then after one month reduce the speed to 50-60kbps. mtnl has changed the meaning of broadband

    Smile MTNL is not as bad

    I have been using MTNL at home and office, both in New Bombay and I must say one out of the two experiences has been beyond excellent and the other is now getting better with initial hiccups. Both places I have been using GLB502T of D-link. I am still trying to figure out the fact, but I was told by MTNL that the service works best if you connect the modem directly to the phone line without having any parallel phone connections. If you want to have parallel connections, it is better to connect after the modem. Actually that is the only difference in my two installation setups. Ans the one with direct connections is working excellent. I am using the 199 plan.

    Hello shrikant_rt,

    I understand that u r not facing any problem with M.T.N.L..But I wud like 2 inform u that wen I started using their service,even I thought dat M.T.N.L. provides good service.But as each month passed,it got worser n worser.
    I also want 2 tell u dat I hav got da same plan as u hav got n also I do not posses any parral connection.So, there is no chance of getting disturbances due 2 parallel connections.Also,I want u 2 know dat the M.T.N.L. ppl r big liars.They never keep their promise.
    Now a days I hav experienced frequent disconnections wid poor speed(which was a problem frm b4).Even writing dis article,there was 2-3 disconnections.
    I think M.T.N.L. has forgot da original defination of broadband which says dat a broadband connection speed shud b atleast 256 kbps n shud always hav connection.

    hi all i'm using MTNL BB from past 1 and half years and have a unlimited download connection and had daced very few problems. Infact the maximum data i download in one month is upto 35 gb and thats very good. So i think its one of the best or the best BB provider in India.

    well i am also using MTNL in North Delhi now a days there is some link down problem i am facing otherwise MTNL's service is very good, if i make a complaint, very next day they call me up for feedback.
    and i am using 749 Night Unlimited plan and my torrents reach the maximuim download speed of 210 kbps and in direct download from rapidshare... it starts from 300 and gradually decrease to 200-210 kbps..

    MTNL gives good speeds, but they dont give unlimited plans. God damn it!
    I never had problems with speed. i get transfer rate of 122-185 kbps. sometimes more.

    Mr. Lorddrake let me point out that MTNL a PSU company needs no more new customers, nor they try tactics like AIRTeL...
    I do agree that the customer service is bad (not worst like sify for one)
    Their field service is one of the best
    Installation is the quickest
    Speed Awsome
    Billing :not a single paisa charged extra (airtel had disputes amounting to 38K)
    Cheapest and fair ( if i dont use it for a moth they charge nothing!!!)
    IPTV service one of the best

    So all in all very VERY nice company
    Only failure is the customer support

    MTNL is worst service provider not only in Broadband but also in other services also like mobile, landline. I m waiting for BSNL. when BSNL is coming in Mumbai....?

    Default Night Unlimited Tragedy!!!!



    As I always said that MTNL is the worst of all but some of the forum members disagree.To prove them wrong,here is another incident(lets say tragedy).
    As I was fed up of limited bandwidth of MTNL,I decided 2 change my plan 2 night unlimited plan of MTNL.After a few days ,I got a cal frm MTNL dat my new plan is activated as it had Night Unlimited+1.25GB of day limit.So at 12:15 am ,I started surfing n everthing was fine until 1/2 an hour or so.At abt 1:00 am,the net disconnected,I connected it again....got disconnected again...n dis continued.After evry 10-40 secs,I get disconnected.I noticed da same for a few days.I tried at odd hours like 2 in da morning or sometimes at 4 am.But da result was same.Den I realised dat the whole drama of MNTL giving night unlimited is fake.den i switched switched 2 day timings.but dis time da situation improved frm disconnection from evry 10-40 secs 2 10-30 mins(dis is da exact situation b4 i took da night unlimited plan,da difference being dat now i pay 449 more than b4 which amounts 2 Rs.849 pm).Tired of dis,i called da customer care ,dey registered my complaint n was 2 disconnect da phone wen i asked dat where's my complaint,the lady on da other side replied,didn't i tel u(c how dumb these customer care ppl r),I said no n got da complaint no..Upon askingdat wen wil my problem b solved,she replied dat she dont no n some1 wil surely reply 2 me.I waited for few days n rang up again 2 customer care,I gave my complain no. n upon asking wats da status da lady replied dat da problem has been solved.Wat??Solved???Not a single technician called or visited me nor I hav seen any improvement.I decided 2 register another complain went ahead.I told da operator dat I got another problem n told I get vry less speed (7-14 KBps).She told dat dats not a problem n asked me follow her instructions,I said ok n she continued.She told me 2 click on da icon,I asked which icon.He said it is called icon.I replied dat everthing displayed in da desktop r in da form of icons,so which 1.She argued n said,its called icon.I said ok n told her dat where cud i find dat.She replied dat it is placed at bottom near the time(c how fool she is,she even dont even no dat da bar where time n other startup items appear is called taskbar).I said ok.Den I asked dat how does it look like,she replied dat it look like an icon(Wat??Is her brain alrite!!!)I said which 1...there r many.She asked me wat r dey,i replied dat dat there is a avast antivirus icon,another was AVG,one was volume control n one is safely remove icon.I told dats al,but she argued dat some more icon must b there(at dat time i was in a situation where i had 2 decide whether i shud convince her dat there r no more more icons or som soln for my problem).On continuously trying 2 convince her,I got angry told her dat ,Come ovr here n watch for urself.On saying dis,she rudely told me dat ,Let it b n disconnected d fone.
    After a few days,i called back but there was no clear answer n dey asked me 2 cal 2 a particular no.I called n explained my problem,the person on the other side replied dat dats not his business n asked me 2 cal 1500(the customer care no.).I was landed in da same place frm where i started.I called da customer care again n dis time i asked dem 2 giv a clear ans.But dey refused n started their age told trick of saying dat my area is having a problem n server had sum problem n al.Upon continously asking the exact time,dey disconnected da fone.After few days,sum1 frm MTNL called n told dat there was no problem in their end n told dat my line may hav sum problem n asked me 2 contact the line man in my colony(i searched him in da colony for many days but he was nowhere 2 b found.By da way how can i expect a guy 2 b around checking lines here n there wen there is mnsoon around n dat 2 in maharashtra.)Luckily,i met da guy after few days.The explained da problem 2 him but he replied dat there was no problem in my line(widout even checking it) n i shud contact da customer care instead.Now,I was in a situation where no1 was ready 2 take da blame.Only after giving another complain the problem was solved but regarding da speed it only increased 2 20-25Kbps.
    But dat was not da end of da problem,da same incidents repeated after 3-4 days.And hence I hav 2 giv a complain after evry alternative week or so.
    Another incident was dat wen I tried 2 download a file,I was surprise 2 c dat it wud take abt a week 2 download a 1 GB file.But I proceeded thinking dat da time wud reduce as i download.But to my surprise thge time increased 2 45years 2 download ....yes 45 years.....u heard it rite.
    Now even if sum1 disagrees wid me.....den God only knows how can 1 make al u forum members understand.

    Guyz, I think this man always complains and don't want to do anything; atleast teach him "formatting of paragraph", I slept while reading this paragraph and woke up @ 8.30 am in morning, came to know I didn't switch off my router b4 8 am, so now I've 2 pay 5000 bucks for 5 gb downloaded last nite,

    MTNL sucks, hails to loddrake!

    Dude try any ISP, on MTNL NU plan u can download 5gb+ in 1 nite, no other service provider will fetch u 2mbps NU plan except BSNL.

    Post ur adsl status, stop complaining @ 1504, they r dumbass,

    I also stay in south delhi very near 2 exchange,but the connexn sucks
    I feel ones service quality does not depend on loation
    in my case when the service works it works well & many a times no connectivity
    P.S: pls specify ur exact loation
