Default MTNL connection problem, MTNL balmes on private modem!!!

    hi,
i have mtnl connection for last 10 months and using a private modem COMPEX MRL21E.

it worked fine for first seven months or so but from last three or so months i am facing severe disconnection or not connection.
as the modem is not able to either connect or the connection drops frequently, but sometimes it works fine for hours but when i restart the modem it fails to connect again.

the mtnl delhi guys as always blame the customer hence they blame my modem (they are saying that this modem has some inhereted problem and it will not work fine, but it worked for seven months), as it was in warranty i changed it three times(this time got a new one).but the problem continues.

now the mtnl guys on my persisting complaints had provided me a modem from there side for trial period 4 couple of days, its MT882.

the problem with this modem is that i dont find any major improvements.
    prob with this mtnl modem:
1)sometimes all the lights are up but net is not working and ping shows destination unreachable,
2)when i check mtnl usage, it shows network disconnection at infrequent hours, 2,3,4 etc.

    my queries are:
    1) is the problem is really with my compex modem (as now i have a brand new one from the company), if yes than can it be solved via settings.

2)if it cant solved than should i opt for an mtnl modem, and this frequent disconnection from mtnl modem can be solved.

    3) if i opt for mtnl should i choose for wireless adsl modem from mtnl one as netgear WGR614 is only a wireless router and with this i will be needing a adsl modem as well.(correct me if i am wrong).

after so much trouble my friend told me abt this site, and this is my first post.
i need some answers as i am in deep trouble and need something to fight with these mtnl folks.

for ur reference i am posting images of my modem compex MRL21E

and the one provided by mtnl MT882

    i desperately need some answers.
    thanx in advance

For frequent disconnections please check if there is any noise in the phone line(pick up the handset and dial any digit, if you dont hear anything then its OK but if you hear a crackling noise then noise is there.) Ask your lineman to remove the noise from the line. Also check the wire from the MTNL pole to your house/place, if it has a lot of joints then have it changed. You can buy a two pair phone cable and ask your lineman to change it. It good to hav a two pair cable installed coz if one goes bad other is there. I hav done the above and facing a lot less problems mainly regarding frequent disconnections.

no point complaining about the junior persons, Because they are not trained well about troubleshooting.

if you want make a complain, file against the GM for broadband section.

    Thumbs up

Its a common thing that the service providers would do to blame private modems or routers for disconnection.

The best thing to do is to let them know that you have the MTNL modem connected now and still the issue persists.

Or else they wont get the complaint logged.

    Regards

it is possible that there is a problem with internal wiring over there or SNR on your line is low... so its better to call MTNL and then tell them to run a line test for you to see the line behaviour.
apart from this you can try to connect only your modem and one phone and remove all extn boxes or any extn phones (if any)

in most of the cases disconnection happens due to incorrect physical setup of broadband and due to line instability...

i think it may be due to old underground dammaged cables... MTNL needs to check all this.... you keep on reporting this issue again n again whenever it happens just call them and shout out loud... that it keeps on happening again n again...

god why these providers dont think about our hard earn money

I have tried 2 Modems and a wireless router but I am also facing the same probem. My connection stays on only for 5-10 mins. I have a drect connection to my router without any phone line connected. SNR is also good. No noise on the line SNR is 15db. line rate is 2045. dont know the reason.

in this case you can try to check your system bro.. and if you have second PC then you can check it on that too...

coz if your DSL/ link light on modem is not flashing and SNR is fine then it can be a problem with computer aswell...
you can check your system for spywares apart from this you can check Physical cable which is connecting your modem and computer..

Bro if your DSL light is flashing sometimes then its a line problem coz as you said you have already checked physical cables and in this case the best thing would be to contact your ISP... so that they can dignose problem from there...

    Default Vista Driver for MT-882

I too am having a problem. The Modem I got is the one above (MT-882). On XP it works fine but the drivers are not there for Vista. It did not work with Vista. It says that "although the modem found the driver but did not have the required line in the inf file".

Any driver that is available for Vista? Called up 1504 to speak with MTNL. They said go on to the manufacturer's site for Driver and that was that

It is correct that the huawei MT882 does not have drivers for Vista [As of yet] however you can extract the entire driver folder onto a folder on the comp and force the computer use the .inf file by using the update option in device manager [Remember to select the device with the ! yellow bang on it]

dude he same problem had happened to me 8 months ago.i had a mt-882.they said that its because of hot summers that the mt 882 modem gets hot n connection disconnects.so they replaced my mt-882 with the d-link dsl 502t n its working with even better speed of connection till now with no problems at all.so check if your connection wires are not loose.try it using a telephone.there should not be even 1 percent disturbance in the connection.if this doesnt help then ur own modem may be faulty.

    Hey,
Dont buy a private modem.Pay 500bucks and take MTNL modem because they maintain it.
Also if you have an unlimited connection you dont have to pay the modem rent.

(Once I accidently broke the power adapter of MTNL's modem and told them that I received it broken.Fools believed me.These idiots should be fired and everyone should be selected from UPSC to save MTNL)
