Thread: 2 and half month for setting up connection !!

Hi friends , i am from navi mumbai . I recently applied for a new broadband connection from mtnl . My relative has mtnl connection who stays just 50 meters from my house . But i was shocked when they said that the time required to set up the connection is 2 and half months ! The reason for this delay was unavailability of ports .I have mtnl landline connection from past 18 years but still they are not cooperating .The guy to whom i contacted was very lazy and quiet rude , as if he is doing some favour for me .If that is not enough , they told a friend of mine who lives in the same locality that it would take 6 months to set up internet connection at his house !!
Is there anything that i can do . If they dont stop such behaviour then i guess i that i will also remove their landline connection .

isnt bsnl available in ur area?

mtnl is the mtro bsnl ok
well abt the problem , u can put a case in consumer court aginst mtnl.

No. You can't. They (MTNL) have expressed inability to provide the service. You can file a case in consumer court if you have paid for something and not got the goods in return.

nothing much you can do as they don't have the hardware to support you
so will have to live with it, in my area they dont have even layed cables and said that it will take 1 year to do that, forget getting bb i dont have a wired landline

I checked mtnl website and according to it my area is covered for broadband plan besides i am using their landline phone for more then 15 years , also my neighbour has mtnl broadband connection from last 2 months so i dont know what is the problem . I think their workers are too lazy to work . Is their any way so that i can get higher mtnl officers to know this problem .

one of my friend waited for 1 and 1/2 years,

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about this.. If they dont have a port available then the best you can do is wait for a port to be available or them to install more capacity in future. If you have already paid to Mtnl for the connection thats the only scnario that you can go to a consumer court but even a consumer court will understand Mtnl's plea that they dont have any ports available and the fact that you have been made aware of this keeps Mtnl imune for any action against them.

If you have asked for a refund and Mtnl is refusing to cough up the money then you can take them to a consumer court and ask for damadges aswell.

India needs a lot of attention for infrastructure

yaar ye problem to mere saath bhi hai i applied 6 month before for Tri B Combo unlimited connection i got the telephone connection within two days but i did'nt get the broadband connection till now
