Well till today i was a relatively satisfied customer of MTNL broadband having the 849 night unlimited plan. However for the last 1 month i experienced exactly 2 hour auto disconnections. My adsl light is rock solid but the connection drops exactly after 2 hours(on the dot). So today i called up mtnl helpline just to inquire whether they have a 2 hour auto disconnect policy and as expected they didnt know crap. on top of that they issued me a complaint number even though i wasnt complaining , just inquiring. Soon after that i notice that my speed has dropped from 2mbps to 512 kbps.
I want my speed back to 2mbps. if anyone knows the procedure then kindly reply coz ive called all the helpline numbers mtnl had to offer to no avail.

What I suggest is to personally go and meet Assistant Engineer of your telephone exchange with written complain.
The speed can be reduced from 3 places..
1. your wiring
2. your exchange
3. From the main exchange which handles internet
For me it will be kandivali exchange and Prabhadevi

So meet the Assitant Engineer at your local exchange and speak nicely and calmly and he will do the needful

Also check the speed at mtnl website (Check adsl speed) also check at Speedtest. net -

I switched plans from the night unlimited to the 256 triband unlimited plan 1 on the 21st July 2008. My speed fell from 256Kbps to 20Kbps. I complained to the exchange and they told me the problem was with prabhadevi. The poor MTNL fellow kept calling prabhadevi and finally the MTNL man got fed up and told me to go back to my old plan of night unlimited as the prabhadevi exchange guys were not increasing my speed despite complaints from their own guy - shocking state of affairs!
