    Angry Need Configuration for WA3002G4

    I have WA3002G4 Wifi modem which is pre-configured for BSNL network. I wanted to use it for MTNL Broadband connection. Pl. tell me how I can re-configuration WA3002G4 modem for MTNL network?

    Change in WAN page VPI/VCI to 0 and 32.
    MTNL ID and password for PPP/PPPoE.
    For dialer "bridged" not required.
    Rest as usual.

    Default settings for WA3002-g4 UT Starcom Wireless Router -MTNL

    1. Connect laptop by LAN cable to WA3002-g4 UT Starcom Wireless Router. Power on Router and reset the pin on the back.
    • Go to Control Panel –Network Connections – Right Click on LAN Connection – go to Properties – General tab – TCP/IP properties –
    • Select Obtain IP address automatically
    • DNS primary – 59.179.243.70
    • DNS alternate – 203.94.227.70
    • Save and Exit.
    2. Open browser with 192.168.1.1. Log in as User - admin, Pwd- admin.
    • In the Interface Setup Menu go to Internet section
    • Under PPPoE/PPPoA - Username – as given by MTNL, Passwd- as given by MTNL,
    • Under connection setting - TCPMSS Option: put value as 1360
    • Under IP Address setting - TCPMTU put value as 1492.
    • Leave all other settings untouched and save.
    3. In the Interface Setup Menu go to Wireless section
    • Under Wireless LAN select Authentication – WEP-64bits
    • Under WEP select Key#1 and replace entries with xxxx0 where xxxx is last four digits of your phone number. This is the default pwd at MTNL Delhi. OF COURSE YOU MUST CHANGE IT AFTER YOU GET EVERYTHING RIGHT.
    • Save
    4. Go to Advance setup – Firewall and select Disabled and save.
    5. Go to Advance setup – Maintenance – System Restart with Current Settings. The Router will reboot.
    6. Now Switch on Wireless button on Laptop. It will detect the new wireless connection as RT2561_6. Click connect. Enter key as xxxx0, It will connect wireless network.
    7. Go back to Go to My Computer – Control Panel –Network Connections – Right Click on Wireless Connection – go to Properties – General tab – TCP/IP properties –
    • Enter IP address e.g. 192.168.1.36
    • Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    • Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
    • DNS primary – 59.179.243.70
    • DNS alternate – 203.94.227.70
    • OK. Save and Exit.
    8. Remove Cable.
    9. Try to browse internet. It should work.


    When it works, go ahead and do other security settings to enhance the security.

    Its really very simple you just need to update username and password thats it, apart from that all settings are same for both ISP's
    Both are using same Encapculation: PPPoE
    Multiplexing: LLC-Based
    VPI: 0
    VCI: 35

    wireless is something which depends upon you and your needs, if you want you can make it secure with WPA or WEP, this totally depends upon you
