Default Vista Driver for MT882 Modem from MTNL

Dear Group

I loaded the USB driver in Vista. It shows that the Modem driver has been found but there is an error in installing since the inf file does not have the required line

Anybody found the solution/driver for this? I called up MTNL at 1504 and they simply said to do a Google search and find the Driver.

Huawei Technologies Co. SmartAX MT 882 Driver Summary

With Usb cable disconnected copy drivers to say C:/MT882.
Connect cable and let Windows detect New hardware.

I tried after downloading the driver fro Driver guide.com. It did not work with Vista. It says that "although the modem found the driver but did not have the required line in the inf file"

seems you selected "let windows search" for drivers option.
Then the *.inf folder is searched by windows.
You should select the location where you have downloaded the drivers.

Default Vista Driver for MT-882

I specified the folder but it gave error and said "Windows could not find the driver software for your device"

The device, that the Device Manager says is "Texas Instruments CDC Ethernet/RNDIS Adapter". The Modem is a white box with MT-882 written on it

Download this :
FILE STOCK - Texas Instruments CDC Ethernet/RNDIS Adapter Driver
Try this :
1Presume you have the MT882 driver in (unzipped , if zipped file) say location
C:/Mt882 USB
2. Start your system without any USB port connection from modem.
3. Now connect the cable from modem to USB port.
4.Message "New hardware found" will appear.
5. Then , if necessary select ADD New Hardware page from Control panel.
6. Follow instructions : Now load the driver from C:/Mt882 USB.
7. You may get windows message " this is not digitally signed " etc
8. Ignore .
9. Either driver will be uploaded or system will crash !
10. Message "safely remove hardware" can also appear.

Para two : In Computer "search" in C:
type the file details.
Probably it will be listed in C:/Windows /System 32 folder,
if properly loaded.
Will recheck above post later for any error/s

Para three:
Go to filehippo.com
Download update drivers program.Install.
Check what drivers/updates are required for your system.

Modems sold by most Indian ISPs incl. MTNL, BSNL, Airtel, etc. are no more in retail market. They are sold as OEM to Indian ISPs. They have no firmware upgrades and lack Vista drivers. Occasionally you may be lucky but that's it.

Best way is forget about USB and drivers and connect via LAN cable. No drivers needed. Pronto.
