    Thanks for the info..

It is expensive indeed, hoping for the prices to come down with the passage of time..

Shame on Mtnl.. This 3g service is not atall amimed at those who use the data connection and is only aimed at lovebirds who will be using their video calls service

These high ranking babu log dont have a clue about a thing
This is absolutely disgusting... who on earth charges Rs5 per mb?

I was waiting for mtnl 3g for so long and this is what they've come out with.

I would never use this mtnl 3g crap at such extortionate prices.

they are probably thinking public would take up whatever is given. the service is surely not going to take off at these rates.

ugh...this is pretty disappointing, especially after having everyone wait for 3G like it would be a mobile broadband saviour in India.

Was looking forward to subscribing to MTNL's 3G service when it launched in Bangalore, but not with these prices...I think this will suffer the same fate as fixed WiMAX.

admin is right - if they can charge relatively low for video calls, why not for data usage?? i can imagine couples all over Delhi gifting their significant others with video+3G phones for valentine's, that is if the recession has still spared them somewhat.

MTNL (and competitors), I hope u guys are listening!! You really need to take a hint from other countries' networks and, most of all, your potential customers!

There's nothing to be disappointed with the price. Its as expected.Initially the prices will be high. Allow more players to come in, I am sure in couple of years the price for 3G will come down.

Something tells me this is going to be it. I mean most of the providers will more-or-less charge us the same rates. There will be huge roar and cry in the beginning, but we all will adjust to it in the coming months.

And it probably will be Reliance GSM. They are just fishing people with never before offers like lifetime @26/-, double TT for every top-ups.

    No i don't think so.

How many of us actually use gprs to check our mails on a hourly basis....Very few.
    The Companies know this.
I am quite sure that very few people are using the Mtnl 3g jadoo.

What is the point of having a service which is ment to be used on a hourly basis and having a tariff so high that people start avoiding it?

    yes inititally.

You remember the initial days of mobile when they used to charge Rs.26 for outgoing calls and RS.5 for incoming calls..

There will be this phase as companies are being robbed on the name of spectrum by the gov.t

Once they have recovered their money i think after that there is going ot be an all out war.

More over we have DOT and TRAI as a regulator to make sure that tehre is enough 3g use.

The tariffs will be in the higher segment initially, but with the passage of time it will fall down drastically.

    ^^^
It took something like 8-9 years for the mobile tariffs to come down to a reasonable level. That too only after the forced entry of Reliance with their CDMA offering in a market then populated by GSM players only.
If the scene for 3G also happens to be the same, then it would benefit only our next generation.
