    Default MTS MBLAZE connection in Bangalore

    Hi Pals

    I am seeing many MTS Ads on most of the B'lore roads from past one month.

    Just curious to know hows their service and connectivity in bangalore.

    Any one who has / had MBLAZE connections?

    I bought a MTS connection yesterday for use at BMSCE, Bangalore (Bull Temple Road). The speed is very good, and meets my expectations.

    * Normal download speed ranges from 100KBps to 150KBps (So, a speed of 0.8 - 1.2 Mbps)
    * Torrents work nice, giving speeds of 75KBps to 120KBps
    * I paid 900 for device, under some offer.
    * 999 per month for unlimited (with 15GB FUP)
    * If you're planning to use with GNU/Linux, buy the cheaper USB modem (the one without storage capabilities) because that works without any drivers. The advanced ZTE one has a GNU/Linux driver, but its for kernel version 2.6.30, whereas the latest is 2.6.32 so it doesn't work on new GNU/Linux machines.

    Overall, I'm very satisfied keeping in mind the initial costs.

    I just bought a MTS Mblaze and I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with kernel version 3.2.10. Could you tell me what are the steps to
    get started with the device.

    Regards

    Ideally you should see a Mobile Broadband option in network manager, and you should be able to add a new mobile broadband connection using the wizard. It will have a list of operators from which you can select MTS.
    See this for a tutorial muktwarecom/1063/mobile-broadband-set-ubuntu-1104 (please add a '.' before com, I am having issues posting links)

    You might be in for a real shock as MTS licences have been cancelled by court and is valid up to 18 January 2013
