Default MTS Mblaze wifi slow speed

I bought MTS wifi mblaze last week with Rs999 plan prepaid but every day in the evening time like right now I get extremely slow speed. Even simple web pages take a long time to open. I called customer care and was told that they have noted my complaint and will do something about it. Now I got to know from someone who lives near by that they also get slow speed during evening times. Is there something I can do at my end to help the situation?

I bought this mts because of the price and did not anticipate such problems and now I am stuck with it.

The most likely cause is network congestion. A lot of people trying to download/upload/browse etc at the same time and chocking the local towers routers. Complaint to MTS will not yield any result. Get a connection that is least congested.

Network congestion could be the reason because right now I have no problem browsing or downloading. I tried a speed test and it is showing good speed right now but in the evening when I need this connection the most it will start playing up. Repeated calls to MTS have made no difference.

How to find a network that is not congested?

You should speak to people who live near by and see what is working well. You could also have a word with the local recharge wala and see what he says and these recharge walas are normally aware of what works best in the area.

Its most likely that the slow speed is due to a large number of users during the evening time, its the same case with most service providers. What you can do is use the connection, during non peak times like late at night or during the morning or afternoon when there will be less MTS users.

try putting the modem in a slightly different location of your house. Can work wonders sometimes.

You wont believe what all I have been trying to get better speed :

I plugged the MTS wifi modem into a battery bank and tied it to a string and hanged it out of the window. - No luck

I put it in the balcony at different locations and angles. - No luck

I went to the 10th floor with my laptop to see if that would increase the speed. - No luck

Then I was told that signal strength shows in the page that opens up automatically when I plug in the modem in the laptop and I checked it and found full bars. Signal strength is not the problem here but the network that MTS has which gets choked in the evening. I have been sitting at the same location for the last 6-7 hours with my laptop and the speed was too slow until two hours ago but right now I did a speed test and I get 3.5mbps which is good enough for me if it stays that way all day long.

I have bought a reliance prepaid sim card now but it is yet to be activated so hoping that it would fare better then MTS.

Reliance has a decent network and local lever infrastructure mostly every where so my guess is that your experience with reliance 3g should be a good one. I myself use MTS broadband these days and do see some slowdown in the evening and some times during the day but there is only so much we can do as a customer.

I probably dont get that frustrated by mts because as soon as I see some lag in performance I switch to Airtel 3G which is a bit pricy but their network is top class so for browsing it makes things move faster.

you can check the strength of MTNL network at your place. If network is good, its the cheapest option available.

MTNL is not bad atall. I think one has to keep two connections one for browsing and one for purely downloading/uploading. Airtel is good for browsing with no slowdown at peak times either and MTS or mtnl could be used purely for downloading purposes.

MTS MBLAZE ULTRA. Initially it was good but of late it is very slow. Waste of money. Don't buy.

WASTE OF TIME ENERGY AND MONEY.

This problem only seems to be with the MTS MBlaze connection, although it is not as popular as other mobile broadband connections. Or has it really become so popular in the past year or so?

    Hi,
I have similar problem. I bought MTS 15 Oct 2014 under REVB-20GB. Paid 999/- on delivery of Dongle. Started using it then realized what a grave mistake I committed buying MTS. From day one Day or Night the speed was just 0.5kbps or less never reached even 1/3rd of their claimed speed of 9kbps and odd. Their technician came twice to my place in KK Nagar, Chennai. Did some tests and said they couldn't improve speed. I was completely taken aback. The purpose of buying MTS was for the speed they advertised when I already have BSNL broad band working reasonably well at around 2-3kbps. So I Wrote to their appellate authority to close my account as I felt cheated and offered to pay that months rental for what ever little use I might have made while doing initial testing and trying to use the Dongle. That was a very fair deal I thought and paid another 999/= towards a months rental when their bill collector came for collection and gave me a receipt that it is full and final bill paid and the service to the number will be cancelled. same time I received a confirmation email also from their Senior Specialist (Billing) E. Sundaracholan, that my account is closed. All would have well if the story ended there. I never thought MTS is such cantankerous company who will start sending reminder after reminder by email after email, phone calls SMS etc. everyday fouling up my phones and emails. I was at a loss to know where from this pending amount has come when I paid the full amount and got it closed and received confirmation too. But alas my my torture by MTS didn't stop there. They have escalated it in to filing a case against me for recovery of dues amounting to Rs. 1017/= in the court as they say that they have sent me a legal notice to pay. That is climax of BAD SERVICE and CROWNING OF VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.
So the moral of the story is never ever susbscribe into MTS dataservices. Their services are not only bad but you have to face their onslaughts of reminders and legal notices for a money that is not due.

Dont worry about the legal threats as those calls are from collection agents. You have made the full and final payment and there is no reason for them to demand more money. If I was you I wont even pay the months bill and ask for a refund of the initial Rs999.

I agree, I too am using MTS Mblaze since a year now. But I don't rely too much on it. At times, surfing becomes too irritating. The speed drops like anything. Using internet becomes frustrating. In such instances I prefer using my mobile phone's internet connection. I have a Vodafone connection in that. It works way better than MTS Mblaze. Moreover, it does get connected even when I am at the ground floor, unlike MTS!
