Why millitants targeted hotels?

By the time you all must be aware of the panic situation in Mumbai. 101 have been declared Dead while around 300 have been injured.

But the Question is why the militants choose big Hotel like Taj and Oberoi...
Actually this is kind of a double edged blade...they are attacking the people, the economy of India as well as damaging the reputation of in India in front of the whole world.

Miliatants knew that Big places like Taj and Oberoi are always flooded with Foreign Tourists, guest and VIP official members. The situation is really worse. For sure it will put a bad effect on the indian Economy.


Results are in front of us, England Cricket board has cancelled their tour to India which is a big shame for the country...The next major tournament Champions League is also underneath the Black clouds. Many of flight have been cancelled or delayed for unknown hours. Stock Market did not open today and I am sure when it will open tomorrow it will open with a Red mark...which is even worse.

Commandos from Delhi have been asked to visit Mumbai as soon as possible. Meanwhile some militants flew away two of the Police vehicles two of them took the Police Jeep and others a Police Qualis. Situation is really getting worse. According to the latest updates around 4 militants and around 40 people are inside the hotel Taj.

This terrorist attack is certainly different from others... Terrorists targeted elite crowd this time including foreigners... Earlier their target used to be random... Normal public at normal places... I'm sure this one origins are in our neighboring country... Who don't wanna see our economy progress...

I think the basic purpose behind this attack is to spread terror in India and to dammage our economy. Still i am really not sure if any neighbor country is involved in this or not.

neighbour county is involved..yesterday police found one mobile phone which polices claims that is of one of the militants...the no. belongs to the neighbouring country.

There was a BREAKING NEWS on channel about the open firing on CBT station (Chhaterpati Shivaji Terminal)...of course channels like IBN were highlighting very confidentely while the CNBC claims its a false alarm. but video shows that it was definately a panic situation...people were running on the platform...Comandos took their position...but it was believed to be rumour..

One more threating news was the firing near RBI...which really horrifies the scenario...I mean they are now firing openly on streets...

this is terrible...

Meanwhile I learnt that the Taj Hotel is more than 100 years old!!!

Terrorists want terror spread everywhere, its happens in business buildings, trains, buses and this time it was a hotel!

The hotels which were targeted were 5 star hotels, where only celebs, high profile people go. Before it was only ordinary people on the streets who travel by bus, taxi or walk!
But this time it was the rich people!

(i personally think that because the rich were targeted and know what it is like, that maybe something will be done, where as before it was ordinary people and only they knew what it was like, but they did not have the power or voice which can be heard)

Well FYI..... taj is basically tata group....n tht is owned by Ratan Tata....! How come u guys didnt know??

well yes its a very bad situation in India..... i really wonder wht was the motive behind this?? every day i check news channels....i get to kno a different reason but the actual one is not known!!!!

Infact, by now its even out that there was alreayd news about an attack being planned on mumbai in the month of nov. by sea.....n apart from that sources told that thy came to kno about some major happening was to happen in TAJ.... (courtesy: www.outlook.com) !!!!

Apart from that the situations worsened on the first day as there were no proper actions taken n those terrorist got time to settle in the hotels.....the commandos were called from delhi....wherein mumbai already has a navy back up....! thy were not even called.....! The commandos had to wait as their aircraft was in chandigarh n it flew from there to delhi got refuelled n than thy came to mumbai @ like 5 am.....which was the worst step taken....! when there was a crisis situation, any commercial airlines cud ve been flown from delhi airport....this was one of the situations.....

There are many such points going on.....!

A fren of mine was there at that place n he being a journalist told me the actual scene there on the first nite....n it was really scarrry when i heard it over the phone...!

My heart goes out to all those who suffered n went thru all these......!!!!! The least we can do is wear WHITE today.....so as to show that we CARE n r still ONE n UNITED. This is carried out on the whole in the country.

Pls wear BLACK tw ie. 2nd DEC. as a sign of protest against these Terror ACTS.....

I agree with you... Its cuz of elite crowd getting killed we are seeing resignation from home minister, CM, Dy-CM... U know what that Dy-CM R.R. Patil of Maharashtra said? he said that "Mumbai jaise bade shahar may aisi choti-choti baatein hoti rahti hain"... He should be banned from politics... These politicians don't care about sentiments of people of India... They don't give value to Indian citizen's life...

Especially when it comes to the ordinary people!

well yea till now whteva was being affected was govt. properties n more or less ppl from middle class, lower middle class n below....n thy cudnt do much about it.....n thy were given these amount n kept quiet.....!!!!!

I agree with that idea of blasting politicians in a hotel...

Personally I like the development work Modi is doing in and around Gujarat... And introduction of POTA and other stringent laws are much needed now in India...

But I don't think making some1 PM will solve the matter... The best thing that the government can do is to spend more money on intelligence and keep politics out of the security agencies... Strengthen agencies like RAW, IB, NSG... Equip them with latest technologies and skilled man-power... Give them a free hand... To carry out missions in best possible way....

I agree MADZ but giving them a free hand is most imp. apart from that a PM shud b able to tackle the nation in a proper way.....!!!! I mean till now Mr. Singh leaded the nation n hez still not taking actions after soo much of happening.....!!!! I jus feel at times hez a puppet n does whteva is told to him by Ms. Sonia Gandhi.....

We need a leader whoz able to show the path ahead when nation is in dire straits... India is suffering from Identity crisis... It doesn't know whether its a superpower or a developing nation... These militants were being guided from Pakistan, which I believe was done by someone from ISI . They were sent here to target "American and British passport holders" But see what they accomplished, they killed hoards innocent civilians, didn't even spare women and children. But wait!! they held the "passport holders", westerners ie. for more than 60 hrs, and the military response was late too.......Don't you wonder WHY they didn't kill as many westerners as they want us to believe? got answers??

These attacks were to mobilize Indian Public opinion, against Pakistan so that we will agree to send INDIAN soldiers to die for American 'War on Terror', which we previously didn't agree to.

the terrorists have exposed themselves to all... they have been captured on video footage as well as various photograph doin their dastardly acts... untill now they used to put bombs in various places, but this time they went out on a shooting spree! and that too including high profile areas!...

what this clearly shows is how useless this government is that these people have gained so much more strength that they can carry out an attack like this...
