Because of 2 reasons

1) Latin is the language of Rome where many ancient discoveries were made
2) English is a Germanic language which also has a lot of Latin influence .so they were used unchanged in the English language

France/spanish/Italian all have their roots in Latin ..... Latin is to Europe what Sanskrit is to India ..... And yet Hindi not sanskrit is our National language

Likewise English not Latin is the universal language

I hope u r not thinking that Latin is the language which originated in latin America

I say Putin never want to speak in English and just check the stat of Russsia & France how many people know English America is country where most of the European stayed(specially English man) from old age.
Your reason can't explain is partially true but main thing why this old language ? where most of the person speak in English.Actually the main reason is most of the european country never want to accept the english as scientific name this big debate has only one solution to create it a old language and mother language
I don't know why you are thinking Russia, Frace is not developed country and why every country should follow america ?

The PM should definitely know english, because at some point we need unification in the languages. Something should be common between all of us. Otherwise it would be utter chaos. And what language can we think of in such a case except english ?

Just before i login here i read few European people comments on english language in BBC majority replied that no need of intermediate language both can easily talk with interpreter and also people will decide himself that which language they want to communicate each other.Don't think that i am very much agree with that comment but still personally i feel at least PM don't have much problem to talk with other country's person without knowledge of English if any one is very much eligible in other prospective then he/she can be good prime minister accept the knowledge of English also.

About the Japanese PM ... i read an article a while back in which the Japanese PM was stated as having said that he wished he could speak English as well as Dr ManMohan Singh [who is not an Englishman by birth like him].... And there is no relation to Chinese economy's advancement and the Chinese PM not knowing English [Remember we r talking about the PM not the people]

Please Go through my previous post, i already mentioned that english should be accepted for International correspondence. And of course it is about patriotism.

NO, WE CAN'T.

Why not ? because a pyramid cant stand erect without a base. And to create a decent base we need many decent stone slabs. We dont have that many good individuals in politics to back up that ideal guy u want as a PM. If they hear about such a guy, they will kill him while he is still in his mom's womb. Well, that sounded a bit tacky

but trust me, thats the way things are everywhere. And there is absolutely no way to rebuild this entire system. This is true for every nation/country. Think of the countries as machines. India is one with too many crooked parts installed by the brits and others filths who invaded this place. We didnt have enough time (or qualified people) to stamp out those parts and reorganize the whole system before BOOTING it. So, we are still running with it.

There you are..one should have faith in him self and to change the system one has to be in the system. One can not change it without being the part of the system. Great minds have the ablility to make others join their endeavor to convert dreams in to reality? Will you ever try to be part of the system to make it clean and clear? Not necessary you become leader, but you can do it in many ways..

That was because a historical event was indeed happening. Hence the crowds. No doubt Obama is a good speaker but then most politicians are. It is improbable that a bad speaker will survive in politics.

The state our country is presently in, only a superhero would be able so save it.
In the parliamentary set up of India, the days of a single party getting absolute majority are long past gone. Its the time of coalitions. So the PM has to take care of all the whims and fancies of the coalition partners just to make sure he remains the PM. Under such circumstances, hoping for a PM who would take fact and decisive action is nothing but a utopian dream.

The person who doesn't proud his own country and national language is not patriotic. and i suggest to read my previous post, though i didn't post it in proper format(sorry for that)..you will know what i mean to say and it won't sound garbage to you..
