As we all know and talking about IAF prepration to hit terrorist camps in Pakistan so trying to put some light on IAF.

With its headquarters in New Delhi, the Indian Air Force has a strength of approximately 170,000 personnel and 1430 combat aircrafts making it the fourth largest air force in the world after US, Russia and China....

Sukhoi SU-30MK




The Sukhoi is the IAF's prime air superiority fighter. IAF has 150+ of these heart fearing Bombers..


MIG 29s


The MIG-29 (NATO: Fulcrum) has a top speed of 2,445 km/h (Mach 2.3) and is armed with a 30 mm cannon along with R-60 & R-27 R missiles. Capable of flying at 2,500 km/h (Mach 2.3).


Mirage 2000s


The Mirage 2000-H is the IAF's prime ground-attack fighter jet while the double seater Mirage 2000-TH can also play the role of an effective interceptor aircraft.....India has more than 250 of these.


Jaguars


This is one of the most feared fighter of IAF extremely capable of fierce ground attacks....The tanks regiments all over the world fear this monster....India has more than 200 of these.


MIG 27s and Tejas LCA




MIG 27s are again Jaguar like ground attack fighters. The single-seater MiG-27 carries one GSh-6-30 six-barrelled 30 mm cannon, 4000 kg of general-purpose ordnance, SPPU-22 and SPPU-6 gun pods, and various guided air-to-surface missiles.....Whereas Tejas as all of you has just been introduced into IAF and will replace more than 200 MIG 21s. Tejas has world's fiercest close combat air to air missile R-73....


Hawk AJT & MI-25 choppers


The BAE Systems Hawk is a British single engine, advanced jet trainer aircraft....Earlier Indian trainee pilots on MIG 21s crashed due to sudden change of speed for a trainee pilot....IAF has obtained 66 of these advance jet trainers to overcome this problem....It can be used in combat as well.....MI choppers are deadly machines and India has 600 of these..

The US offered us F-16 but we have not purchased it. India is more interested in F-18 Hornets.

India still surviving with their Russian Fighters [mig , sukhois etc]

imo India should concentrate on building up their home made Tejas ....... its one generation behind current fighters but it ll give India capability to build their own 4th generation fighters atleast ....

India is looking for the advanced version of Mirage-2000 (the Mirage 2000-5) also. Here are some more pics.




The Mirage-2000 is deep penetration ground strike aircraft. It is not suitable for dog-fights in the air.

Made by US companies Lockheed Martin and Boeing

jointly developed by 8[approx] countries US many European countries ... and some others like Singapore and Aus

Its Technically the most advanced plane ever built ..... F-35 Lightning II is the only aircraft which can be compared to the raptor ..... Russians dont have any Equivalent aircrafts to match the sophistication of F-22 [5 th generation fighter] Raptors yet .
India and Russia are currently still developing a 5 th generation fighter [PAK 35 ??]

F-22 Raptor: 62.1 feet long with a wing span 44.5 feet raptor is one of the most advanced plane of USAF which they consider best for ground attacks, It can go upto 50,000 ft.

Actually there are many which are as good as or a shade better than Sukhoi 30 MKs ....

These were very useful for Indians during the Kargil war ... It was reportely the most efficient [due to easy maintenance]
