    You come from which state?

Most of the new students do not opt for Hindi as their second language here...
They think that its so hard and that they won't get good marks...

Don't worry Dhanesh after few year Indian language will be almost disappear from metro city and English will be the only language for working & communicating purpose. Now i think we don't need to think it again because we already did surrender in front of English base globalization and tell me why we will learn our mother language just to talk with some "illiterate Indian" never. What will give us this language ? nothing all official purpose, all high society never give us any reputation. After all English can help us to earn lot money ,to set brilliant carrier,to belongs a high society. And the words of heritage of country and involvement the emotion of ancestors with our mother language is just the word of "mad" & "foolish person".Now the intelligent person's view is carrier is the biggest ideology and money is the ultimate goal now why we should care about "other or mother" (both become same for us) language ?

I think you miss my tone. Actually in last reply what i wrote that's not my personal view i have written it because lot of the person of our society is thinking like that way only i represent them.
Seriously i worried very much because future of mother language is very dark. Our traditional language which may will die if front of our eyes (may be 30-40 years). That's why i choice that negative way to protest it.

i am a marwari from kolkata ... marwari language is very different from hindi .. the words sound similar ... but its a complete language in itself...

i speak equally good hindi and bengali ... most of my friends are bengali and they always say - that we havent seen any non-bengali speak such fluent bengali ever ... no stranger with whom i speak in bengali ever realizes that i am a non-bengali ...

    Wink

Same goes for my wife. She spent 5 years in bangalore and speaks kannada better than any kannadiga can and her mother tongue is Telugu which is not very comfortable with. She is comfortable speaking in Malyalam (my mother toungue) rather than telugu. It's not that she doesn't like that language, nobody even in her house speak Telugu so she doesn't

yes usually it is soo tht wht u speak at home , locally & at work ....a person gets used to tht one.......like if u r a marathi & speak marathi even in blore than u still kno the language n converse but if the family doesnt speak marathi than obviously how will u kno......so it all depends wht u language u speak normally....
Dont count wat u lost, cherish wat u ve & plan wat to gain...coz past neva returns but future may return the lost! Think-Decide-Act!!!!

I don't think so but yes, with the increasing stress on English, one oftens tends to speak more in english.
