Rapidshare has announced today that they are to log all downloader IP addresses and files and send all records to a public pirate database system to be used by people such as RIAA, IFPI, MPAA and BPI.

This has fulfilled some of the lawsuit charges made by the RIAA and MPAA.

The database itself will be held on Rapidshare's server, and will be accessible by anybody, and IPs will be updated live.

Many people are worried about this and are thinking of switching their file hosting services to a different one such as megaupload or sendspace.

I think RS will go out of business.....coz 90% of RS users are pirates. BTW is this news true? its not in the announcement section of RS.

common...i heard that RS lost a suit in germany against german govt or some agency.
there is still a chance. i mean if they are nailing ppl for piracy, then they are not gonna shout it & know the ppl.

possible, but I think if they record details without user's consent/knowledge that would make them liable to fraud too.

Anyways lets wait and see.
