LAHORE: At least 20 people were killed after gunmen stormed a Pakistan police training school near the eastern city of Lahore, police officers said.

Donning police uniforms, the assailants, believed to be around 10-14 in number, stormed the complex around 7 am, opening indiscriminate fire and lobbing grenades when around 800 trainee policemen were present on the premises.

Cops said the number of casualties may be higher given the heavy crossfire between the attackers holed up at the training centre and paramilitary troops who fanned around the perimeter of the ground.

The attack comes barely a month after the audacious strike on Sri Lankan cricketers on March 3 in the city that left eight dead and 20 injured.

Witnesses and TV channels said a series of at least five blasts were heard at the training centre at Manawan, located near the Wagah border, and the explosions were followed by an exchange of fire between the attackers and policemen that was continuing even after three hours.

Bodies of policemen were strewn on the ground and more casualties were feared. Dozens of policemen were also seen scaling a wall to escape from within the centre. Most of the casualties occurred near the gate of the centre.

yes, i saw the news in the morning itself and followed it for quite some time ... its really sad. things are getting completely out of government's hand ... there is no law and order in pakistan .... it seems very soon there wont be any pakistan on world map ... maybe it will be called taliban ... almost everyday we see terrorist attacks in pakistan ..

How they are accusing India ? Terrorist who has been arrested by PAK military he is talking in 'Pustu'. All know 'Pustu' is the Afgani language.

Whatever bad happens in pakistan, they always try to blame us only.. News said that it was unconfirmed news from pak higher official that our neigbour country might behind this..Who are trying to take revenge of recent events..

now a days terrorist attacks news are not giving me any surprises or shock. i am getting used to them. Where is the world coming to?
