Default Cell Phone Batteries Harbor Dangerous Bacteria..

Yesterday i was watching NDTV and suddenly this news flashes to me that new research shows that moblie phone is dangerous to human being, specially to kids and this time it's not the signal's of mobile phones but BATTERY.. Battery contains lot's of bacteria which seriously are harmful to us.. Take a look for full story.

Although doctors and other health experts have yet to figure out exactly how harmful cell phones are to the human brain, one thing is for sure, their batteries are a real “death trap.” New studies show that the devices themselves carry numerous bacteria that can only live in that certain environment, but which are also capable of infecting humans and even causing their death. That is to say, when you're in a hospital bed and your immune system is weak, it may be the cell phone battery bacteria and microbes that deliver the final blow, and not the infection or contagious disease you are suffering from.

According to a new research conducted in several hospitals, 95 percent of all analyzed mobile phones retrieved from emergency rooms and intensive care units were tainted with at least one kind of bacteria, with most of them having even more. These organisms, usually harmless for humans, can wreak havoc inside the body when the immune system is down, due to other infections. What's even worse is that cell phones can also hold the drug-resistant, super-bug methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), for which there is currently no treatment.

Health authorities warn all hospitals around the world to exercise extreme caution in preventing the spread of the bacteria, and to always employ hand sanitizers or alcohol wipes before staff members use their hands to take care of patients. In the US alone, 60 percent of all hospital infections are caused by MRSA, and the bacteria has killed 19,000 people in the country in 2005, while infecting an additional 94,000 patients. The thing is that the bug loves “hanging out” in hospitals, so the risks of getting it are really high if even the basic protective measures are not employed.

A simple way to ensure you remain out of harm's way is to wipe your cell phone at least when you're committed to the hospital and to leave it at home or also clean it very well when visiting one of these institutions, so as to avoid contaminating others. Statistics show that 35 percent of the infected cell phones present at least two kinds of bacteria, while 11 percent have three or more strains of potentially life-threatening ones on or inside them.

The new research has been conducted by Fatma Ulger, a scientist at the Ondokuz Mayis University, in Turkey, and has focused on the mobile phones of some 200 doctors and nurses working directly with patients.

mumbai: The next time you visit a relative in an icu, better leave your mobile phone

behind. Also insist that the hospital staff do the same.
This is not only good bedside
    manners but also a life-saver.

Doctors from a navi mumbai hospital recently completed a study that revealed a virtual colony of microbes living on mobile phones. Mgm hospital’s dr chitra pai and dr nikhil tandel, in fact, found the deadly superbug mrsa on some of the 120 mobile phones belonging to healthcare professionals that they tested.

Mrsa (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) is known to cause skin infections at the community level. Within hospitals, it causes difficult-to-heal infections in the soft tissues as well as, at times, fatal pneumonia. Mrsa has earned the name “superbug” as it is resistant to most modern-day antibiotics.

Dr pai and tandel also isolated other microbes such as micrococcus (causing skin infection), fungi such as candida and aspergillus (that cause rashes and lung infection, respectively), among others, from the 120 mobile phones they studied.

“mobiles are kept in pockets or handled with sweaty palms, which are good media for growth of microbes. We found that 82.5% of the phones had microbes that could cause skin and throat infection,’’ dr pai said on tuesday.

The mgm team took swabs from the phones of 120 healthcare personnel, including doctors, lab technicians, nurses and ward boys. “we isolated strains of staphylococci bacteria (54.6%), micrococcus (20.83%), candida (6.66%, aspergillus (5%), diptheriods (5%) and gram negative bacteria (2.5%),’’ she said.

The mobiles of 50% of the 30 lab technicians surveyed had pathogens, which are disease-causing microbes, while phones of 36.6% doctors had pathogens. Dr pai said while her study was confined to hospital settings, the same or worse condition could exist outside as well. “the phone of a taxi driver or a worker in a restaurant could also harbour many microbes. We need more studies,’’ she said.

They were saying that it's almost impossible to stop the usage, but what we can do is to keep our mobile absolute clean... I misses the part "How to keep your mobile clean" but i hope they don't mean "Clean your mobile with water" by it , Members who followed that news can share that...

    Default solution

hello guys,im nikhil tambe, the same researcher who did the study with dr.chitra pai.my study was called a microbiological study of flora harboured by mobile phones of health care personnel.the ways to prevent contamination of mobile phones is 1)handwashing thoroughly with soap and water 2)use of disinfectant like isoprpyl alcohol(prooved 98% effective by study in psj institute of medical science ,coimbatore)3)use of mobile covers embedded with silver ions(too costly, not yet developed in India)

yes it is outer cover of cell phones which has organisms on it..inner parts too have bt they wont affect us tht mch as these parts wont be in skin contact.but guys please dont worry too much, organisms ie normal flora ought to be there on mobile phone.its only if it is pathogenic which is worrisome.my study was limited to hospital people so there was sure chance of getting pathogens on some of thm.sooner we will extend this research to community level and check the outcome.

Default Solution for bacteria on mobile phones

We have developed a nano-silver water based sanitizer. It is chemical-free and alcohol-free. This is completely safe to use on your cellphone unlike alcohol based/chemical based disinfectants. This has nano-silver particles which kill bacteria on contact.

It has been tested and kills 99.9% bacteria. It is non-toxic. Use is simple just take a little from the bottle and wipe your mobile phone. Use everyday and it will solve the problem. Also can be used on any other surface & electronics.

Will also kill bacteria on your skin .
