Thread: Happy Birthday Chennai

In 1639, this day, Francis Day got a "firman" from Damarla Venkatadri to build a Fort and a Settlement. This went on to become the Fort St. George, the present Administrative centre of the Tamilnadu Govt. The city was later named Madras and then recently renamed Chennal.
So happy 370th birthday Chennai.

Happy Birthday, Chennai.

Feel very sad after looking at those old photographs. In Europe, the old part of the city is tried to be preserved as much as possible. Sadly, in India, we talk all about culture and rich heritage, etc. But where is the preservation part?
