Thread: India eyes solar power

Electric power, it has been India's problem since last decade. Globalization and industrialization has boosted India's economy but power production has not been parallel to this growth. India's tie up with Iran for gas pipe line and Civilian nuclear deal etc has been government keeping in mind the huge requirement for energy. In a landmark decision India has decided to produce large amount of solar power in next decade. Under Jawaharlal Nehru Solar mission, India aims to produce 20,000 Mega Watts of electrical power. On Monday PM Manmohan Singh inaugurated the project. Hope it will be helpful for India large needs for electrical power.

India is very large country, Gujarat, Rajasthan are very dry places & have large square area's. If we decide we can make very large amount of electricity from it. We live above cancer line, so whole year, sun shines very much brighter (abt 8 months), we can harvest its power.

India need to do something like this. This is an ambitious project at national level. Hope it will succeed.
