India is seen as a major player in south east asia. India is compared next to China whose economy is growing as threat to United states. It is a long running dream of India to secure a security council seat. The run is not for a permanent seat. But it is two year term temporary seat.

Kazakhstan was in the race as a threat to India. Kazakhstan being a member of Organization of Islamic countries was feared to steal votes of Arab and Muslim nations. This threat somehow was nullified as it withdrew its candidature for the UN security council seat. This doesn't mean that India has secure a seat. It is still 10 months for the election and some player could pop up.
