First Annular Solar Eclipse of 2010 will take place on 15th of January 2010. This is the millennium’s longest solar eclipse.
Srilanka and south India will have the 1st glimpse in asia . This Solar eclipse is also visible in Singapore, Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Africa, Europe, and parts of China.
This is an annular solar eclipse where sun and moon are exactly in line and sun appears like a 'Ring of Fire' as a result of shadow of moon . Last time India had a glimpse of the ring of fire was in 1965 and this will not be witnessed again before 2020. This eclipse is special it will not have a diamond ring it will be a gold ring .
The eclipse in India starts around 11am and end around 3:15 pm. The best view of the eclipse would be at Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu, where it would be seen for 10 minutes
This eclipse will be fun to watch but people are requested not to watch with naked eyes. Use a telescope a pinhole camera or binoculars
