Central Forest and Environment ministry has place temporary ban on new projects in 88 cities. The move came in the wake of a new study conducted by the pollution control board and Delhi IIT. The reports say that the pollution rate in these cities is already above the prescribed limit. It is not only threatening but it is growing in a fast manner. The index gave values on water pollution, air pollution and atmospheric pollution. The report was submitted to the ministry and the ban will come effect from this January The ban is for 8 months. Among the upcoming cities, Kochi also comes under the scanner.

In the index the industrial areas that comes above 70 point has 88 cities. Kochi comes in the 24 th place with an index of 75.08. In August a new study will be conducted and the ban will be rearranged.
