Thread: App2Fame contest by txtWeb?

Just thought I'd share this information about a pretty cool application development contest being held by txtWeb.com. Basically you have to develop an application that be used by sending a simple SMS to get the required information. There are some pretty neat applications on the site already which are entertaining while some are really useful. Maybe some of the members on here would be interested in creating some applications and hence win some neat prizes.

I am still in the process of developing one myself and have quite a few neat ideas. I'm hoping to win the iPad2 if not the main prize!

Also they're giving out prizes to people who come up with neat ideas for applications. I have a few neat ideas that I plan to share with them.

I'm hoping more people will hear about this contest cause it seems like a great way to win some prizes and show off our developing skills.

i have used such a service before... but it think its a new and interesting project....

Have you tried out the applications on their site? They're quite useful and interesting. I think the apps which help you get emergency services in your area are very helpful no matter where you are since you can just send an SMS and get the information that you want without any hassles.

the email through sms (both sending and checking inbox) are not working for me...

@mickey Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'm not sure about apps that work with yahoo email.. but the gmail apps work very nicely. There are major issues with yahoo email so I stopped using it as my primary email address. Have you tried any of the other applications on the txtWeb site?

by the way how safe is it to send your email id and your password to someone like that??

are they certified by any internet agency which can tell us that yes the service is safe. safety may be a problem here, but i find it very useful, handy and also very important in emergency situations like no gprs.

Have you tried out the @dict app? I find it useful when I'm reading some of my textbooks!
