Default Deleting msg will be illegal now

what is this???? government is going to make law that we have to store whatapp msg
and emails upto 90 days. How could it be possible? I delete msg and mails daily. Sharing data with government on their demand, i think there will be no problem but then where is our privacy? and keep
data upto 90 days looks ridiculous, how it possible? If i keep my sms and mails upto
90 days, then email took long time to open due to slow internet. Mobile will start hang
due to so many sms. some mobiles store sms with first in last out method. What will
there users do, when mobile delete last msg automatically for provide space to new one.
What type of technician works under government, who give such a stupid idea?

What do you expect out of a government that banned sale of non veg food in Mumbai? I voted for BJP in the last elections but this is not what I voted them for.

I think the Govt is asking the service providers to keep the messages in their server, even if you delete it at your side.

That essentially means Admin cannot hard delete spam on this forum anymore? Have to keep spam and everything else for at least 90 days. This forum uses a script to detect spammers and automatically deletes most of the spam using Akismat's key and if the news reports are to be believed then using this script would become illegal?

WoW I am not sure if such a law can be implemented.

I have been on the other side of the fence for a long time when I was a moderator and I know that some of that spam is illegal to have on your server too. Keeping it is illegal and deleting it will also become illegal? Government should start distributing some almonds to those who are chalking out this plan.

While I've heard about this before, I'm also not sure if it's a law that will ever be enforced, as I think a lot of websites and apps won't be able to do what the government is asking.

In th UK I remember reading that the government was thinking about making whatsapp illegal altogether, but that in the end turned out to be just a rumour.

I was expecting this. The idea was not at all practical. I just wonder how Government authorities come up with such stupid ideas. Storing upto 90 days of data may require a lot of space in your mobile and in the case of a low end mobile phone it will not be possible. They cannot put any such thing mandatory on the public, but can ask the service provider to do something in this case. This Government has been acting in a very weird manner in various matters for the past few months.

However, it is good to hear that they are not going ahead with this proposal.

i think they exempt only social media like facebook ,whatapp but what about the emails. what will happen if someone delete mail by mistake. This government are trying to ban on every problem that they are not able to find the solution of problem. ban of movies, ban on book, ban on meat, ban on maggi, ban on porn and so many other thing. i keep all these in my mind next time when i vote to bjp next year

It's a "no surprise" for us, as we have already seen a lot of BS going on under this government. I mean what's wrong with the government. On one hand, they say India is a democratic country and on the other hand, they ban meat and stop people from eating it. It's quite easy to understand the level of their thinking and their decisions.
As you have already mentioned one more illogical rule above, it's a no big surprise to me. We all are getting used to such things.

I think it was only a hype created by media as always. I don't think Government will come forward with such an impractical idea ever. I am still unclear about how they are going to store this huge data on servers. If will also be included in this, then the size of data would be huge and would not be practical to store it in a server. Moreover, it is just an intrusion into others privacy. It is not simple as it looks.

This idea sounds good in theory (for a non technical person though) but it's not at all implementable; it'll require a mammoth of storage in cell phone devices and will piss off people badly. It's like yo can breath only to make your heart beat 72 beats/minute - if the beats down or up even with the margin of 1 -- you are breathing illegally! Obviously, almost everyone using the Internet will find themselves in violation of these rules... I think the news little too early in the market and possibly someone (whoever conveyed it first) framed it wrongly.
