Default Political correctness: What is the "actor" thing?

This topic is not to do with "politics" as we know it but more about "political correctness".

Nowadays all people in the acting profession are called "actors" regardless of the gender. The word "actress" is no more politically correct. I never understood why. Any comments?

The "Actor" has moreover become a personality trait now.

The World has come ahead of it. We very rarely use Acting to actor..

I dont find any political correctness in pronouncing both genders as actors.. Its nothing derogatory in calling a female a female and a male a male... Its like using "he" for both genders ...

It cant be called political correctness ... It may be called another step in making English language less and less complicated (not that it is overly complicated as it is now) and more easy to communicate with.

If you have a unisex name for an actress and if you are for instance writing a news item for a newpaper ... how would you refer to an actress whose name is xyz and is imposible to detirmine the gender of the person from his/her name... wont it create confusion? You would just have to write bollywood actor so and so ... how would you tell the gender of the person the writer is refering to?

Political correctness is just crazy. I do not think that there are any actors/actresses being defined as just one, or indeed as they are, either masculine or femenine. If it was me I would prefer to be an actress. I do not see what is politically uncorrect about it.i would have thought it had more to do with sexism.
