    Lightbulb Real and Quicktime Alternative

    Hey all fellow IBBians ,

    just wanted to share some information what i came across an year back;

    I know u hate the hoggy Real player and the somewhat bossy and MACcyy (:lol Quicktime player;

    Here's a solution for u all;

    Free-Codecs.com :: Download Real Alternative 1.90 : Real Alternative will allow you to play RealMedia files without having to install RealPlayer/RealOne Player

    Free-Codecs.com : QuickTime Alternative 2.7.0 : QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files (.mov, .qt and other extensions) without having to install the official QuickTime Player.

    Installing these marvelous appz (not exactly apps; codecs and dlls to be exact) will allow you to get all the functionality associated with the above mentioned applications, yet prevent your system from being hogged up , all the real and quicktime files will be able to be played inside wmp itself..

    I know many of you must be already knowing about these; this thread is to inform many others who are still suffering from the many players they have to install on their systems.

    Cheers!
    DON'T beam me up, Scotty!

    You can also use K-Lite Codec Pack. It have Real Alternative codec in it. Don't know about Quick Time codec. But I never had any problem playing any media formats after installing it.

    ya i hav that installed too, but it does not offer the browser plugins that i need very often. hence the separate real and qt

    Some more info to share:

    To backup all your themes; preferences, addons, bookmarks, EVERYTHING from firefox; just install the addon FEBE!

    Just discovered it! It can also schedule backups.

    Man i love ff so much now that i wanna marry it! :lol:

    FEBE is awesome. This is really useful to me because I reinstall XP once a month.
    And it's really hard to config all the settings and addons in Firefox.
    Thanks again StarryKnight.

    These are my favourite Firefox addons.

    1. Aardvark
    2. Adblock Plus
    3. Coliris Preview
    4. Download Status Bar
    5. Flash Block
    6. Secure Login
    7. Stealth
    8. Tabscope
    And now these too.

    1. Chromifox 2
    2. FEBE

    OK! I exaggerated a little, make it 8 time a year.
    But, now I don't reinstall like I used to. I am happy with Ubuntu. And only use Windows XP for playing games. If you don't use Windows XP you won't need to reinstall it.
