British Government is currently in the limelight for spending billions on a high technology biometric identification program only to find that they do not posses any means or methods to authenticate the IDs. The idea was to first distribute such programmable card to the government employees and then to the layman citing security reasons. But the oddity is that none of the government agencies are equipped with the machinery to authenticate the users. When pointed out, the government was swift to respond that the whole program is in an incremental fashion and will be take some more time to be perfect.
