Default No blogging, social networking for Indian diplomats

Some of the major restrictions recently imposed in Indian diplomats are as follows. They cannot/should not

    1) Create an account with Facebook or any other social networking sites

    2) Create an account with external email services

    3) Attempt in blogging

All these have been implemented to prevent leaking of classified information. The computer network security of the MoEA has been in a constant state of upgradation since some months. Various layers of security is being added to the current infrastructure of MoEA.

Diplomats do have a private life. But they are also targets for hackers, terrorists, spies, etc. On social web sites, many things can be disclosed about lifestyle, personal information, likes/dislikes, etc. People who rise to high places need to be shielded and they should not unknowingly disclose something (however insignificant).

    its all very good.
but the problem is, most leaks come from politicians trying to get cheep publicity or trying to make fast bucks. So who's going to gag them?
and why only MoEA personnels? should similar orders not be made applicable on all senior officers of all Ministries?
