Social networking is fast catching up with the spiritual and the religious too it seems. The latest being Dalai Lama entering the world of twitter. His tweets can be read at Twitter / OHHDL . The ohhdl stands for The Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama Just after 9 hours after the account was setup, about 2000 followers are already been credited to the account. Currently this figure stands at 18k following, 11k followers and 46 updates to the account. An interesting message posted in the account is as follows "I'm sure HH will be just as inquisitive about technology as he has been over the past 14 reincarnations."

The account was set up by an impersonator who claimed that it was the official page of Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader. The account kicked off with an introductory 'tweet' saying, "Welcome to the official Twitter page of His Holiness the Dalai Lama - administered by The Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama."

The account managed to draw over 20,000 followers within 2 days of its inception (February 7, 2009) before it got bummed.
Reportedly, "the account was suspended because it violated our Terms of Use regarding impersonation," Twitter co-founder Biz Stone has stated. It is not known who informed the Twitter authorities about the counterfeit account.

Nevertheless, now the wannabe Dalai Lama is back with a new opening message. It reads: "Welcome to the UNOFFICIAL Twitter page of His Holiness the Dalai Lama."
